Politically- Moderate US Democrat

Religious-practicing Latter Day Saint (Mormon)

Favortite Discussions- Politics, Music, History, Sports

politics: socially liberal. I favor abortion, lowered drinking and smoking ages, legalization of drugs, the abolition of blue laws, euthenasia, abolition of sodomy laws, homosexual marriages, and I imagine a whole host of other things I can't think of right now. fiscally: I lean slightly to the right.

religion: devout self-worshiper. on the days where I don't feel so narcissistic I'm a weak atheist.

Favorite Discussions: sex, idle chit chat, and current events

Influences: the Daily show, movies, music, Cowboy Bebop, and 1950's propoganda style movies.

Politics-Totally libertarian on social issues, leans toward libertarian economically, though not extreme minarchist at all.
Religion-Unitarian Universalist and strong atheist against religious belief, though not against religious people.
Discussions-Includes, but not limited to: Politics, history, geography, genetics, economics, philosophy of anything, archaeology, videogame design, and the meaning of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Influences-The Skeptical Enquirer, John Stuart Mill, my Mom.

Politics: Centralist, with a liberal bent to it, althought I have my reservations on some social policies of the left. As I see, the left and the right are both insane; but at least the left has a happy sort of insanity to it.

Religion: Agnostic, with a thesistic bent to it.

Discussions: Science, politics, etc.

Influences: non-fiction books, wikipedia, TV, this forum ... yes, I am that screwed up.

Political: Independent

Religion: Protestant (Lutheran)

Political: Liberal on economy, socialist on welfare and anarchistic on some other issues.

Religion: Strong Atheist

Discussion(RL only): Religion, Music.

Politically - I guess by Swedish standards, I'm kinda right-wing.

Religion - Thanks to these forums, I am now atheist (former "pagan") :P

Favourite Discussions - I'm a bit shy and don't discuss a lot, so I have yet to find out.

Influences - A lot of things, mainly leftist-infested Swedish message boards, but fortunately also these forums.

Politically: Non-interventionist. I'm a classical liberal (libertarian). Somewhat dogmatic.

Religion: I do not believe that we can truly know or recognise the origin and source of all things. We do not know if there is a God, and if there were, we would probably be unable to comprehend him or the nature of divinity. Since we do not and cannot know or obtain the answer, it is irrelevant. The result is that I am indifferent. Agnostic, I believe, is what they call this.

Favourite discussions: The meaning of life or the lack thereof. Generally the nature of all things.

Influences: Mostly literature. I have read my share of classically liberal ideology. I use the internet quite a lot. My parents disagree wholeheartedly with me. But several of my friends have similar viewpoints, and I think they may have influenced my a lot at an early stage. Lately I think I've been influencing them. Philosophically, I'd have to say my biggest influences are the Roman stoics and the absurdists of the 20th century (particularly Camus, of course). I've laid most of Ayn Rand behind me, but she influenced me a great deal at some point.

Attitude to life: I like to think of it as dignified and untouchable indifference, something people often mistake for arrogance. If people challenge my intellect, I sometimes choose to respond.

Liberal of the Austrian School (Classical), follower of Ludwig Mises and Friedrich Hayek, Murray Rothbard, et c.

Atheist.

I'm an eternal optimist, and think i can drive my destiny, even when fighting against the government.

Political: mix of Liberal and Libertarian (U.S. standards)

Religion: N/A (though I am a devout athiest  )

Favourtie Discussions: Linguistics, Language, Law, International Relations, History, Religion, any field of science (as long as I feel that I have enough background to contribute something)

Influences: Currently majoring in Linguistics, minors in Anthropoplogy and History, will attend Law School, member of Model U.N., middleweight collegiate boxer (though this has no bearing at CFC)

For those who have been around OT for a while, its pretty evident where several members stand on issues - politics, religion, ethics, philosophy etc.
I thought it might be useful and interesting for everyone new and regular, if we began to put together some simple statements on where we stand as individuals, so we at least know what we are arguing for or against.

What I'm suggesting is 5 areas of discussion where each contributor makes a short 10 word maximum statement on the core of what they believe, where they stand on - political alignment, religious stance, favorite areas of discussion, and what influences shape your opinions. So for myself, as an example -

Politically - Social issues left of centre, financial issues slightly right.

Religion - Progressive Christian, open to new ideas, balance faith and reality.

Favorite Discussions - History, philosophy, anything Aussie, theology, things related to religions generally

Influences - Theology Degree, Arts (History) Degree, Interest in other people's ideas.

Tough questions. Here are my best answers:

Politically -- socially I'm slightly leftist and financial slightly rightist

Religion -- None, I'm atheist. When it comes to public discussions of it, I consider it a joke.

Favorite Discussions -- History, but you could guess that from the message board. ;)

Influences - Have a bachelor's in classics, so heavily influenced by those ideas.

Politically - Socialy Moderate, Economicly Conservative (Right-Wing), In the political compass test, I ranked in the moderate/centrist area.

Religion - Used to be an Agnostic, now a Lapsed Unconfurmed Catholic (I was baptized Catholic but the family stoped going to church after my 6th birthday). Religiously tolerent to other religions.

Favorite Discussions - History, religion, politics, anime (Mostly GITS and Cowboy Bebop), Star Wars, Games and the Demogame.

Influences - Friends, Family, and Professors

Politically - Very liberal on social issues whilst very strong believer in the welfare state. 'Left Social Democrat' maybe?

Religion - None, I am an atheist.

Favorite Discussions - British Politics, Music

Influences - Drugs ;)

Politically - Conservative

Religion - Christian

Favorite Discussions - Anything I am not clueless about

Influence - School

Religion - I'm a Roman Catholic who hasn't been to church for a long time, though. I've got other things to do on Sunday usually ;)

Politics - Both economically and socially center, although slightly to the left economically and to the right socially. It always makes me laugh how some leftists and some conservatives can get crazy ideas. I believe in moderation :)

Discussions - Hockey (well less these times because of the strike :( ), Movies, International Relations, Girls etc

Influences - Books, TV, Internet, Family, Friends etc

Politically - I'm a liberal, but really haven't taken many stances on hot issues.

Religion - Athesit, period, end of story.

Dicussions - Nothing, really; I don't have anything to say anymore. If I did I would probably be wrong and could fatally destroy the delicate, fragile balance that I have worked hard to mantain.

Life - I don't see life anymore, per say - I see it in the winodw of which I live it in. So at this moment, at this time, that's all I try think about (but often fail). If I thought about the future it would depress me so much that I'd probably lose it, so I try to keep my focus on one day at a time. Reminds me of AA.

I stand ready to meet any foe, to protect American lives. I am a green mojnster whopcomes from the sea, once I am called to fight it's your ass. I fight for thoes who are too weak to fight, for the children or unborn. Toeveryone else I say pick up a rifle and stand a post.

Politics - I serve, I do not decide even though I agree with republican stances /most/ but not all of the time.

Religion - My lord is Jesus Christ, you find your own path.

Life - Is sacred, and worth killing over
