Good news, however one has to wonder if these people are just plain idiots....
Sources have told NewsChannel 4's Brian Thompson that the suspects tried to have a training videotape converted to DVD at a store in Cherry Hill, N.J., but the store owner alerted authorities.
I would have thought a cunning terrorist would be a bit more onto it then to get caught like that.
The United States military has invaded countries in illegal wars of aggression, and therefore an attack on their military installations is acceptable in my opinion.

Sounds a lot like that tool who tried to blow up a plane with a shoe bomb but couldn't get the match to light. I guess it's good for the delusional now that anyone with a1/2-assed plan to attack america or americans can now be deemed the impressive title of 'terrorist' and get national attention.
Don't get me wrong, I'm quite glad that these guys were stopped, but I wouldn't exactly call it a 'close call' either...
Indeed. Though this might rank up there on the stupid git scale with the guys intending to deconstruct the Brooklyn Bridge, so I'm not sure how much credit the FBI gets...
Not only that, but "Investigators said the group discussed targeting numerous locations -- such as Dover Air base, Fort Monmouth, a Coast Guard building in Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Federal building -- before deciding on Fort Dix as their intended target. Fort Dix is run in part by the Army and is a reserve-training center, but active units take part in training, some of which focuses on counter-terrorism."
Terrorists tend to hit weakly defended targets, these guys were going after one of the harder targets (albeit unsuspecting) in the United States.
So, so you say that bombing Saddam's military was an act of terrorism and that almost every post-ww2 war US has waged, have been campaigns of terrorism?
Or you mean, with the typical hypocrisy, that when they attack it's terrorism, not when US does it--- oh, no, United States is by definition immune to allegations of terrorism, right?

Apparently not all 'jihadists' are cunning. I don't think 'terrorist' is an ideal term on these topics seeing that it confuses the moral equivalence adherents here. To me these jihadists are terrorist, to nonconformist they are a bunch of cool dudes.
1. Yes these guys would more accurately be called partisans or guerrillas.
2. Yes they seemed quite serious about it.
3. Yes it makes no sense that they would decide to attack one of the most protected places in America. Though we should probably be thankful they were dumb/brave like that, otherwise they could have just started spraying gunfire on a crowded street and done a lot worse before getting caught.
4. Yes it is great that we caught them and pretty much shows that there are still people out there planning violence against us, however incompetent and random they might be.
Apparently the latter, if I read it right - their attempt to have a training tape converted from VHS to DVD spooked the store owner (Staples or Kinkos or whatever) and he "contacted the authorities" and the FBI infiltrated the group with a new volunteer.
Their target was actually irrelevant in terms of catching them, as they never actually deployed for attack.
They do seem to be guilty (training with paint ball guns and training in the Poconos). I know that a father and at least two sons were involved.
The US has been monitoring these people for months. My guess is that they were waiting for them to make references to 'higher ups' in their organization, but it did not seem to work.

Probably also building a solid 'conspiracy to commit murder' case so prosecutors could convict them without needing to deal with all the crap associated with prosecuting terrorists for planning terrorism.
