The big fat oil cats (please join!)

Inherited Turn (1136 AD)
Timbuktu finishes: National Epic
Kumbi Saleh finishes: Granary
Memphis grows: 5

IBT:
Confucianism has spread: Turfan (Mongolian Empire)
That's because Cyrus razed it. Our culture will probably swallow up the small gap there east of Timbuktu and south of Djenne. We should probably discuss building a few settlers to fill in gaps between cities now.

Turn 1 (1142 AD) Our horse archer scouting Aztec lands finds that Tlatelolco is lightly defended:

The Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan, has an axeman and 3 archers.
Timbuktu begins: Maceman
Kumbi Saleh begins: Catapult
Thebes grows: 8

Turn 2 (1148 AD)
Mo Tzu (Great Prophet) born in Timbuktu Man, National Epic paid off fast. I sent him to Djenne to build a shrine.
Thebes finishes: Jewish Temple

Turn 3 (1154 AD)
Thebes begins: Forge

IBT:
Islam founded in a distant land

Turn 4 (1160 AD) The bombardment of Pi-Ramesses begins:
oil12.jpg

Elephantine begins: Hindu Temple
Djenne finishes: The Dai Miao
Tech learned: Feudalism << I shut down research and start saving gold for upgrading skirmishers to Longbowmen.
Timbuktu finishes: Maceman

IBT: I have been zealously tracking this Archer in the frozen north for several turns now. I could have just waited for him to come closer to the cities but ... well ... you know.
While defending, Maceman defeats (6.08/8): Barbarian Archer

Meanwhile:

Turn 5 (1166 AD)
Research begun: Drama
Timbuktu begins: Notre Dame
Outside of Pi-Ramesses, an Egyptian Swordsman is protecting an iron mine.
While attacking, Maceman defeats (4.16/8): Egyptian Swordsman

Turn 6 (1172 AD)
At Pi-Ramesses, the bombardment is complete.
While attacking, Catapult defeats (2.00/5): Egyptian Archer
Maceman promoted: City Raider II
While attacking, Maceman defeats (8.00/8): Egyptian Spearman
Buddhism has spread: Pi-Ramesses
Captured Pi-Ramesses (Hatshepsut)
Timbuktu grows: 9
Djenne grows: 9
Kumbi Saleh grows: 8
Kumbi Saleh finishes: Catapult

IBT: Barb Swordsman threatens our Horse pasture. Ratz, our maceman has arrived but he's slightly wounded.

Turn 7 (1178 AD)
Kumbi Saleh begins: Longbowman
While attacking, Maceman loses to: Barbarian Swordsman (4.38/6) alas, he pays the price for my zeal. So let's make it extra interesting. I attacked with our lone garrison unit:
While attacking, Crossbowman defeats (3.48/6): Barbarian Swordsman whew!
At last, what appears to be the final Egyptian city is revealed:
oil14.jpg

Thebes grows: 8 and grows unhappy.

Turn 8 (1184 AD)

Turn 9 (1190 AD)
At Giza, it's going to take a few turns to move up catapults and macemen. What the heck, these Horse Archers are doing nothing to earn their keep. Let's go for it, at 69% odds:
While attacking, Horse Archer defeats (0.60/6): Egyptian Archer
While attacking, Horse Archer defeats (2.76/6): Egyptian Archer
Captured Giza (Hatshepsut)
Egyptian Empire eliminated <<== war weariness disappears.
Djenne finishes: Granary <<== still sick
Gao grows: 5
Memphis finishes: Confucian Temple

IBT: A Barbarian Horse Archer approaches our mine NE of Kumbi Saleh.

Turn 10 (1196 AD)
Djenne begins: Aqueduct
Memphis begins: Forge
Pi-Ramesses begins: Buddhist Temple
Meanwhile, NE of Kumbi Saleh:
While attacking, Horse Archer defeats (3.72/6): Barbarian Horse Archer

There's one more Skirmisher and enough cash to upgrade him to Longbowman. I can't tell you what city he's in, though. Then we can start researching again.

My suggestions for how to proceed:
1. Deploy our conquering army returning from the war in our east and west border cities. Monty WILL declare on us, it's only a matter of time.

2. Train two settlers and found new cities, 1 in the spot between Timbuktu and Kumbi Saleh and the other near the former site of Turfan east of Paris.

3. Build enough longbowmen to have at least 1 in every city, plus maybe a couple spares with which to garrison future conquered cities.

4. We need to pick a good production city and build Heroic Epic and West Point in it. Currently we have no likely candidate -- Timbuktu has National Epic and is likely to be our commerce/great people farm and Thebes will be a great commerce/research center with Oxford University and Wall Street in it and if we spread its two religions. Maybe one of the new cities can be our military production giant.

You're up, JesusOnEez!

UltimateGP has me up next but please take it Jesusoneez...

I just did a turn before Frankcor anyways so I think it's better that you play Jesusoneez.....

Have fun

Hey Jesusoneez aren't you recovering from a car accident. Hey doesn't that back get sore when the wife starts coming up with these "useless things". Not tonight honey my back is killing me I'd rather sit at the computer for hours which is really good for my back.....LOL

good luck with your back jesus and goo dluck with your turn also @cosmic rofl

Nothing screenshot worthy, but a reasonable set of turns.

2. Train two settlers and found new cities, 1 in the spot between Timbuktu and Kumbi Saleh and the other near the former site of Turfan east of Paris.

Er...Paris? There's rubble east of Timbuktu, did you mean there? Anyhoo...

I tried to find a good production city and the simple fact is we haven't got one. Olmec, stagnant at size 6 can produce a Longbow in 8, but other than that, I think we'd be better off simply building Heroic Epic & West Point in a border city close to Monty and to buggery with what Hammers it produces.

Most returning units are stationed in Alexandria if you wonder where they are...our attack of Monty should probably stem from here. I built no Settler and only managed to knock out 1 Longbow (now in Memphis). More Longbows are being built however. No Settler yet either. Workers got quite a lot done, hooking up Wine and developing some captured cities. Some coastal crap cities are building lighthouses to give them half a chance of growing, some are building Courthouses to help with maintenance costs.

1202AD
Olmec finishes Courthouse and starts Lighthouse (9). It's stagnant, and a lighthouse will allow MMing for more production if made stagnant again once built. Military movement.

1208AD
More military movement. Giza comes out of revolt and starts building a Workboat (45) to work the fish to give it at least a half chance of growth...doesn't really matter...this is a nothing city. There's no religion here but you may wish to change to a Theatre once Drama comes in.

1214AD
Most military is now in Alexandria. Wineries are starting to be built.

1220AD
Kumbi Saleh finishes Longbowman and he heads to Memphis. Starts another Longbowman (8). Just noticed research is at 0% and Drama isn't due for about 26 turns!!! I up the research rate to 40% +1gpt, and Drama now comes in 3 turns.

1226AD
Alexandria finishes Buddhist Temple and starts Courthouse (46).

1232AD
Yawn!

1238AD
Drama comes in and it's a toss-up between Engineering and Guilds, both in 16 turns. I go for Engineering for the +1 road movement will be handy when Guilds comes in and Knights are available to whup Monty with. Feel free to change this though. Thebes finishes Forge and starts Courthouse (12).

1244AD
Cyrus takes up Serfdom and Vassalage. This reminds me to look at our civics, and since we're not at war I revolt to Serfdom from Slavery for quicker fat cross improvements.

1250AD
Pi-Ramesses finishes Buddhist Temple and starts Lighthouse (90) for at least half a chance of some growth...another "nothing city".

1256AD
Olmec finishes a Lighthouse, and allows me to MM for more production and put it back to stagnant. It starts a Longowman (7). I demand all of Monty's cash (280g), and like the cowering dog he is, he gives it to me. I put research up to 50% -12gpt. If he wasn't annoyed with us before, he sure is now. :D

Fin (sorry about forgetting to put research back on until midway through...you may all spank me).

I have absolutely no idea who's turn it is but here's the save!

Good luck...generally I'd stick with Frankcor's plan of Longowmen for defence, and filling in the gaps with some Settlers, and and take a look at the victory conditions as well...we have the population needed for Domination but not the land.

Ultimate should be up by now....But he had me up before Jesusoneez but I thought it be better if Jesusoneez took it since he just got back. Frankcor your roster makes the most sense.

UltimateGP hasn't posted a "got it" in 24 hours so perhaps we should just follow the order of Frankcor's rooster and take it.

Frankcor hasn't posted since July 10th which is unlike him. I hope that his health is ok as we are considering skipping him in my own SG. So if we don't hear from Frankcor in a day or two then I am thinking about maybe scrapping this SG. Just two players again. UltimateGP hasn't posted since July 10th and disappeared twice, last time he forgot to tell us he was going on vacation. Now its four days which he should have checked in by now.

I see Jesusoneez that you are online and seeing that if Frankcor isn't here in the next day or two/ and UltimateGP I think we should scrap it. The game can be won right now and we are a long way off from oil. I just find after playing Prince/Monarch/Emperor and winning, noble isn't much of a challenge. But that's not why I feel that way, it's more the lack of interest by the other players mainly the team leader.

We cross posted and let's give it another day.

I have to correct myself. I didn't mean to say the other players weren't interested, but what I should have said, is that I find it disappointing the lack of interest by UltimateGP.

My apologies for dropping out of sight again. I'm back and ready to roll. It actually works out pretty well for me if this game were to fade away. It seems pretty clear that we can win it any way we choose.

If the game creator wants to keep going, of course I'll fullfill my committment here. But I'll likely finish it up single player if I get a free afternoon.

It was fun playing with you all!
