The Biggest, Baddest Unit

This doesn't fit with the 'super secret unit', which supposedly won't come up every game and requires a certain series of choices/events. This looks like it's the same as any unit (besides the obvious).
Oh, and if we're talking unrealism: This unit uses uranium yet apparently uses a fusion reactor. Explain that one.

it could fuse uranium.

Not surprising to have this unit as part of appealing to the younger casual crowd.

My Civ games usually play out for most of the game during AA to Industrial Age. Those are the units I like to see being refined, not some foolish Giant Death Robot. Running on fusion technology? Which year does Civ span to? :crazyeye:

I hope we can disable all that fanboi crap

They probably made it enabled only when certain series of choices/events requirements are met. Nuclear Fusion tech and Uranium resource might be just the obvious requirements. :)

You couldn't gain energy by fusing uranium. You can't really fuse uranium at all.

That would go against what Greg said, and the civlopedia entry (apparently the secret unit isn't in there.

(assuming that the giant radioactive monsters don't get us first.)
Well, if GDR is not the super secretive unit, then my next guess would be .... Godzilla. :D

Perfections spam? Am I missing something?

Years ago when CFC was anticipating Civ IV, Perfection came on and made this long post about Giant Death Robots. It was regarded as spam by one of the Mods who almost closed the thread. If you want to find the thread, go to the 1000 Clues your anticipating ciV too much and get on the first page, in one of the clues there is a link to the GDR thread.

there's an old post back from civ IV from a guy named perfection. he originally proposed the unit as a joke back in the day

I can't believe Firaxis listened to Perfections spam.

That might be a good time to add a link to the original thread again: Giant Death Robot

.....

did i read that right? the game developers listens to perfections spam?

Quick someone, create a spam thread about how 2K should release the game tomorrow, and for free.

Civ 3 had a hidden Elvis unit in the Teturkan scenario. But adding this is kinda stupid for the vanilla part of the game. It should only belong in a unique scenario based game.
