Whilst waiting for book five of The Coin and Dagger series, I've read Joe Abercrombie's The First Law trilogy (and spin-off books). Really entertaining, well written and - even if it's nowhere near Kingkiller level of greatness - has some pretty awesome dialogue and character development.

For non-fantasy stuff, just bought a biography on Georg Cantor and an essay collection on Wittgenstein.

Oh first law is great. I like it more than kingkiller, though they are very different. Name of the wind is superb, but wise man's fear is a noticeable step down.

Haven't read the first law spin offs yet.

Define "young boys", because my cousin's 30 and his house is basically a gigantic Lego caltrop.

That said, we're talking about the same guy that got me into videogames, tabletop RPGs and board games in general, so I'm not sure if that's to be expected.

I actually felt the opposite, I enjoyed Wise Man more then NOTW. Mostly because I found Kvothe's young life and trek to the collage to be kind of boring.

Yeah, I've really enjoyed the first law. Lots of great characters and funny as hell. Though I think Abercrombie has turned to the Young Adult fantasy genre since finishing the last of the three spin-offs, which is kind of unfortunate..

I also really enjoyed Name of the Wind, more so than Wise Man's Fear. Wise Man's Fear was just too cramped with too much happening all the time. But then again, that's also definitely part of its charm.. Both books are great really. Have you read the Auri spin-off? Talk about mind book

Really? I felt like his time with his parents, in Tarbean and then university was very balanced. You never got to a point where you were thinking "come on, get on with the story already.." At least I didn't.

It just never felt very fun, at least when he was living alone. Comparatively when he starts interacting with people, namely his initial audition at the university, the start just felt a bit slow.

I like reading pulpy chilean science fiction. There's some truly odd stuff out there... loads of garbage too, particularly when I venture into old school chilean sci-fi.

Today I discovered that you can shift- or ctrl-click on multiple files in Modbuddy and edit all their properties at once, e.g. to have them all imported into VFS. Previously I was doing each file individually; this makes things so much easier.

Yeah, that really saves a lot of time. Also, another fun little fact is that if you overwrite a file already imported via VFS with another, that one is automatically imported as well. Useful, if you - like I've done several times - have made some kind of mistake in the dds files (alphas for example) and want to add a bunch of corrected files.
