Update 4
Bulgaria!
"If there is ever another war in Europe, it will come out of some damned silly thing in the Balkans".
- Otto von Bismarck
Edrine, Turkey
April 19, 1937
Bulgaria is one nation that does not accept the CivFanatics rule of Turkey quietly. Ever since the annexation of Albania relations between the two nations have been anything but cordial. It is only a matter of time before the two Balkan nations clash violently...
One February morning the Turkish ambassador in Sofia - just before leaving by train for Edrine - announced to the Bulgarians that the Non-Aggression Pact between the two nations is canceled. The announcement caused some distress among Turkish peaceniks, but generally public opinion was supportive. All available troops were positioned along the Bulgarian border, on high alert.
Truth is the first casualty of war. Apparently, the spark was an incident between some drunken prostitutes in Edrine. Accusations flew between Sofia and Ankara. The Turks sent a long provocative letter branding Bulgarian trolls and calling Tsar Boris a noob. When the Bulgarians failed to be angered by this the Turks took the initiative to avenge the defeat of 1912...
The Turks led by Field Marshal Kan Sharuminar and supported by General PrinceScamp and Captain2 quickly defeated the weak Bulgarian garrison in Plovdiv. The Bulgarians soon counter-attacked with five infantry divisions, inflicting some casualties but failed to stop the Turkish advance. Eleven divisions proceeded to march on Plovdiv, with the rest staying back near the border. Due to the mountainous terrain, movement was slow, but the army should arrive in Plovdiv by April 20.
Two countries guaranteed Bulgaria's independence. LightFang did not hear much from the Soviets, and no news is good news. In Berlin, however, the Turkish ambassador was declared persona non grata and was told that the Non-Aggression Pact between Germany and Turkey has been nullified.
Then, on April 18...
LightFang Pasha rushed into the CFC Porte Edrine HQ with the news. People looked at each other in sudden silence. Germany guaranteed Bulgaria's independence, sure, but not many of them thought they were going to do something about it.
"I told you so!" squeaked Serutan.
Soon, however, another message arrives...
Well, this is getting really interesting. What should our course be, gentlemen?
