The drawing thread

Dun Dun Duuuuuun! Sneaky preview of what I want to be my first venture into DYOS! At current rate of work, completion is a month or two away. A week with exclusive dedication, but that's not gonna happen. :p

Note: This may never be completed.

Oh crap, you're serious about this! :p

I was gonna say I hate you for drawing so well, but now I've seen that Celestia and I can't.

Yeah, that's a very nice Celestia. Would love to see it colored :)

arctic, your tree is pretty good too

I hate you and envy you. You draw so well.

envy is my strongest motivator; all my art bookmarks are of artists way above my level and my seething inferiority complex drives me to at least try to improve

i know that feeling ... it's just that in my case there's like 10% chance of me going "[censored] that, i'll never be even just a little bit good at this" :D :D

no badness is insurmountable; watch the first minute and skip ahead if you don't want to see the whole thing

yeah, i remember seeing his thread months ago, but seeing it all in one video is definitely impressing ... and somewhat falls into that 10% category - where do you get the patience to do that every single day - it always feels like the progress is so marginal that it's not even worth it

scar_faced_egyptian_queen_by_brandonspilcher-d5wk4cq.jpg

The dark marks around this generic Egyptian queen's face are supposed to be scars deliberately inflicted for beautification as seen in some Central African societies today. The chains running to the scarab from under her eyes have an East African inspiration, but I forgot the name of the exact ethnic group.

Here's a mother T. Rex with her son. Pity Mother's Day is so far into the future.

pharaoh_with_a_panther_hide_by_brandonspilcher-d5y9qyy.png

Hatshepsut (or Sobekneferu, or any other female Pharaoh in Egyptian history) shows off her leopard-skin mantle. Leopard skins are usually associated with the Egyptian priesthood, but some Pharaohs such as Seti I have been depicted wearing them on occasion. Besides, leopard print looks good on black women in my opinion.

NSFW? Cleopatra and Hatshepsut displaying their, uh, lower anatomical assets

Posted this on deviantart, might as well post it here too. It's work-in-progress, but I'll show the finished version when I get ahold of a camera. Spoilered for size.

Speaking as one of the most miserly of CFCers, there's usually some sort of catch when you're given that much product for free...

But hey, he has to make up for the heartache of losing so many earlier somehow. Or maybe I'm just speciesist against reptiles.

I've been trying my hand at Cyrillic, so far I've done all the capitals marked as Slavic except for Zhe:

I've done a working version of Zhe for the alphabet above, by following Wikipedia's comment on joining two Kas, and then I fiddled a bit with the nodes.

Looks convincing, Takhisis! Any particular reason for learning it?

And this chapter's a wrap. I'm going to fiddle with using my iPad to ink and color the next chapter because outlining it all by mouse takes foreverrrr.
