The Drunk and After the Party thread and stuff.. 1

Bev, or bevvy, up, means to drink heavily, or binge drink.

Bev. being an abbreviation for beverage.

It's never been my favourite word for the thing. I've generally gone for getting rat-arsed myself.

Bladdered is one of the least savoury synonyms, in my opinion.

I suppose after-cooking-with-wine qualifies for this thread? Because of course one of the benefits of cooking with wine, besides the good food, is plenty of leftover wine to drink with the food. Tonight I made risotto for dinner with cheap cabernet sauvignon, and the extra wine would spoil within a couple days if left to itself, so that was a good excuse for indulging in a fair amount of what was left.

Oddly, I actually did better in one of my favorite highly reflex-dependent video games afterwards, and set a new personal high score. Ballmer peak, I guess.

They do tend to be more interesting and/or hilarious than drinking experiences, in my opinion.

That said, I've had a beer tonight, and it was good. I think I might have another one...yeah.

It's a Laurelwood Workhorse IPA, 7.5% ABV with lots of pine and hop notes.

Sup. Was hanging out with a bunch of high school teachers my group randomly met out tonight. Jesus they are a hyper bunch. I couldn't keep up.

Verdict: sake is pretty good. At first I started to have baijo flashbacks but it evened out.

Verdict: Malört is not as bad as people were saying. Interesting really. But not in a particularly good way. A bottle is significantly too much of it to have around.

Currently drinking this bad boy:

(yes, that is my pic)

2 Towns Ciderhouse Serious Scrump Imperial English Ice Cider. 11% ABV, and tart as a granny smith apple.

That Lagunitas is good though, I love just about everything they make. If I had to choose a favorite of theirs, for me it would have to be the "Hop Stoopid".

A seriously not at all bad little number. Notice in particular the savoursome "sur lie".

Oh. I have drunk gin, myself. But only because I was either curious or didn't have any choice.

You drink it with tonic water, I take it? Surely no one drinks raw gin outside of a lunatic asylum, these days.

This woman, Clarissa Dickson Wright, drank so much gin and tonic she overdosed from the quinine in the tonic.

She was only 68 when she died. Which isn't a great age, these days.
