The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

A high elf would wilt under that amount of shock damage. :ack: And i'm only level 9, so The only atronach i've seen so far was in the Bruma Oblivion gate.

And my armour is a full ebony and a elven longsword as my weapon.

But it drains a lot of magicka,you can have about 3-4 shots before you run out and you have to wait for it to regenerate.But if you aim well then nothing can stop you.

Breton with Mage birthsign.

www.Oldblivion.com

It's not perfect, you have to turn off a few things, and it's not as nice as on official screenshots or trailers, but at least it is good enough to be playable

Some more Oblivion randomness in the best style of Monty Python:

I was in some Ayelid ruins with an NPC. Never mind the details, but at one moment we were talking and he finished conversation with

"WE'LL SHOW THEM!!! :evil:"

Then he makes three steps forward, steps onto an Ayelid platform trap, gets himself smashed and impaled on the spikes :lol:. The platform comes down, and he's just standing there like a complete jerk. The platform goes up again, he gets smashed again :lol:... and again... and again, drops unconscious, gets smashed again while on the floor..... :lol: :lol: :lol:

At this point I almost stopped laughing and started to worry if he's ever going to come off of it :D . But fortunately, a few up & down trips later he did. Boy, was the convalescence spell useful afterwards. :lol:

I did that quest yesterday... yeah, it's really funny!

I've been to Ayelid ruins before, so I know that square was a trap. His AI script made him to lead the way, but only if the PC is within a certain distance. So I just stayed away from him, and he stopped right on the trap... and I heard him say "ouch" and laughed for quite a while. :lol:

I would like to know too, especially since the system requirement said:

Supported Video Card Chipsets:

* ATI X1900 series
* ATI X1800 series
* ATI X1600 series
* ATI X1300 series
* ATI X850 series
* ATI x800 series
* ATI x700 series
* ATI x600 series
* ATI Radeon 9800 series
* ATI Radeon 9700 series
* ATI Radeon 9600 series
* ATI Radeon 9500 series
* NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series
* NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series
* NVIDIA GeForce 6600 series
* NVIDIA GeForce 6200 series
* NVIDIA GeForce FX series

And I upgraded my GeForce Ti4400 (a step higher than his card) to ATI Radeon 9550 Infinite to just to be able to run it. I like pretty water, distant objects and longer view distance so I run it at 800x600 with no AA.

A clever guy made a mod, called oldblivion.exe.
You run it first, and then it runs Olbivion, but using its own shaders. This allow playing with a GeForce Ti 4200 (that's what I currently do ).
You have to tweak a few things in the ini, but it can gives a good result.
Not as nice as the official trailer, but still good enough to really enjoy the game (with that, it looks better than Morrowind for instance).
I play in 800x600 and no grass, to have the distant land.
Without the distant land, I can play in 1024x768

It saved me a lot of bucks, as I don't have to upgrade my system :D

It does come at a cost, though. I lost most of yesterday to the game! :D
I'm playing at 1024 with view distance maxed out and it runs alright. Currently, i am hunting for money. Damn hard to get!

At least, money doesn't move. Try to hunt a deer!

I already did that and found it suprisingly easy. It was possible to ride almost right up to them, get off the horse and cast a fireball without them doing anything.
The main challange was to hit them, while the screen was moving at 5-10fps ;)

I scheme to get rich buy buying ingredients from alchimists, turning them into potions, and selling the potions.

I used the potion creation to really up my alchemy, mercantile, and money with my first character.

But once Mithril starts to show up on the bandits, it becomes much more profitable and quicker to just raid bandit/marauder locations. Much more interesting and less boring than sitting there making hundreds of restore fatigue potions. :crazyeye:

I think the atronoch sign really sucks. Not being able to regenerate magic is a HUGE!!! penalty!

It would take forever to level up your magic skill with that sign and its just not worth it.

Oh and im playing as a dark elf custom class called red mage.

Dark elfs look so bad ass thats why i chose it. I chose the sign of the lord.

The regeneration spell is very helpful IMO. And its not a once a day thing.

As long as you have enough ingredients for restore magic potions, it shouldn't be a big deal. A big tough in the beginning, but later in the game regenerating magic through other means seems to be very easy.

Very true. I have hundreds of restore magika potions sitting in one of my storage containers in one of my houses. Plus I have hundreds of those stones that restore magicka from the ayleid ruins. Restoring magicka, as well as money problems, seem to go away once you get up to a high level.
I have well over 200k in gold, and pretty much nothing to spend it on. A huge difference from when I was a level 1 pauper going through all the crates hoping to find a couple of gold pieces. :lol:

Have you been able to invest in stores yet? I keep getting the message that experts of mercantile are able to invest in business and would like to learn more about it.

No. My mercantile skill isn't close to being expert. I think I'm still an apprentice in that skill, IIRC. Even with all my potion creation, sell potion technique, my mercantile skill hasn't progressed as quickly as most of the other skills. It feels like the Restoration skill, which also takes forever to level up.

edit: It almost seems pointless to invest in a store anyways. By the time your mercantile is that high, you should have plenty of gold where it wouldn't matter if you got $1200 or $1800 (or whatever the max becomes) for an expensive item. That feature should probably have been implemented at journeyman level instead of expert.
