The Historical Basis for Catalonian Independence

I am all about independence for Wessex personally, although it is probably too underground for you.

I'm not going to discuss this any further with you.

Why so mad? I just applied the exact same standard everyone applies to Catalonia: no state = you don't exist. It's obvious there's no english state, so England does no exist. Now you know how it feels.

Don't be mad. Even though you're Spanish you can still be Catalan.

Don't ever call me spanish again. How do you dare?

To stay on topic, here's the map of Europe according to Switzerland:

Albania is very poor and muslim so I guess that's the reason it labels them as africans. As for Asian countries, is only a joke like the planets of the solar system in northern Africa that illustrates that it's very remote to them (that's to say, they just don't give a about what happens outside Europe).

I like those maps. :D

Where do all these come from? I remember seeing some on a maps blog, but that wasn't one of them.

EDIT: never mind, first result on a 'Europe according to' Google search works. :p

Don't be ridiculous.

Why is Catalonia not into being separate from Spain?

Probably because you would have a great amount of people raging on why it is separated from Spain in such a case.
I know what my reaction would be if Flanders and Wallonia would be separated.

You guys have been united for 5 centuries, it would feel weird if you'd suddenly separate. I suppose that Catalunya wouldn't even be like the Crown of Aragon, just the coastal areas down to Valencia or so?

Silly spaniards, they think they are in the Balkans.

No, the union was a forcible annexation 298 years, 7 months and 5 days ago.

We are. Hopefully that will be the day when Catalonia will vote to secede.

Under Felipe V, as I recall, after the culmination of the War of Spanish Succession.
