The last challenge -- Team game -- Deity trial

I think you will be able to trade drama to Willem and Joao both.
So Drama->Currency (see if fit needed) to Willem or Churchill
and Drama->CoL to Joao little money (liberate deal as possible) to get some trading bonus (it's commulative, so it adds even if not shown immediately)

edit (x-post) you can use the priest, to stagnate the growth but not before imo.
we need culture in the copper city, so second academy, no point to bulb paper or keep the scientists so much even, or settle it.

The culture comes in handy but don't discard the more mundane idea of extra beakers . My idea was to use the priest once i'll get to the unimproved tiles in Delhi. I'll time any improvements there with growth. We need to pickup math as well so, get col and currency, research poly, lit and trade for math. If that's impossible self research math. I could live with trading for poly here, we need it right now to enhance our chances for the lit gamble. I could live without it as well because it may hurt really bad later in the game.

Poly is also cheaper to research as everybody has it now. Also if we go drama 1st (I think we should), if Joao is after literature they will get it anyways, it's 4 turns w/ poly trading. If not, they won't :) and they will get it from us.

btw, if churchill goes for engineering/knights and doesn't get something like (namely) civic service. it might worth as well. I think Willem flavors (not sure now) gold, so banking is a natural choice for them. Which is good to stay away from education, I think out 3rd great person, should bulb education, too early to say for now.

Now we are on the good old funny line w/ aesthetics. hopefully the war lasts at least 2 more turns (should be but who knows)

I am more in favour of Drama than Poly after Aesthetics. 2 of the teams don't have it yet. We can use this to trade for math with Jaoa, and immediately put beakers into Music. Then after a few turns we trade drama to Willem for Music. This tech always gets top dollar from the stupid AIs. Even if the Cistine Chapel is already built, they still pay you top dollar! (AI used to be much smarter in Civ III remember?)

So we then trade Music back down to Joao's team for some expensive techs.

A lot can happen from now until the end of Drama, so we'll have to re-evaluate our line by then, but this is something that should be kept in mind. We need music for MT anyway down the road. And when things go just right, you can take expensive MT off liberalism saving another fortune.

We already agreed to research drama first, then poly unless we agree that i'm allowed to trade for it. Music will be too expensive to get from drama, we'll need more for that. We could self research music maybe trade drama for it later. Alternatively cs is a good route. It's too far in the future now. I think looking further than lit is rather speculative. I'll stop this set when i have researched lit.

The ais value drama and music just for the beaker value which is same as alpha/aest etc. They seem to give more for it sometimes as they're often near monopolies. Both can be a rather good techs sometimes. Early theaters can be an asset I do use the opportunity to build culture now and then.

Monty team will not trade w/ us, though. You need both of the gentlemen (erm nuts) to pleased which is not going to happen anywhere soon. Need Hindu and city trade which would angry Willem's.. so no way to get trade w/ Monty.

Alright, quit stalling. Hurry up and do the next turn-set.

Will be Thursday as i said earlier. I still need some input on the following,

It's possible that i can't fit the deal for aest with gold. If not do i fit with fishing/poly hurting our trading position for the future. Or do i just make the deal potentially getting a -1 modifier for we trade. With drama i might face the same problem. Now i'd prefer to risk the -1 modifier as ruining our wfyabta position with techs like fishing is disastrous. Don't think the modifier will amount to more than that as we can probably get close at least with gold fit. But i'm not alone here am i?

lurker's comment:

Very entertaining game and discussion :goodjob:

Good luck.

Will be Thursday as i said earlier. I still need some input on the following,

That's enough of excuses for now thank you!!

You are now officially demoted to Immortal. One more screw-up and I'm kicking you down to Epic-Speed as well.

I guess the silence means... Tuku DoWed on us, and we are finished? :mischief:

It's Friday now, the day you would expect the report if the playing was on Thursday (just lucky if the report is on that day too ;)).

So here we go,

Most things went according to plan. The worker problem wasn't as bad as anticipated. Fast workers really get more work done than normal workers. We have more than enough happiness and health so i think all the cities should at least work all resources and mines at all time while growing to cap. For this reason i didn't whip Delhi,Viay,Kushans,Bombay and Resource city. It's just not worth it atm. Viay and Resource city can be whipped soon though as they're almost at the point that they average tiles.

I finished a missionary in Delhi for border pop in new copper city. A second is built to scout near Toku. Another scout is going north to Ragnar. Chronologically,

1AD

Academy in delhi
mm for aest in 2
trade deers/copper to Churchill/Monty for 16 gpt and some Monty resources.
Ask 1 coin from Toku, i'm pressing him too hard.Joao is more generous

25 AD
rearrange tiles to still get aest in 1 but work more high food/Hammer

50AD
Pasture sheep in Kushans, Horse next turn, what a great city.

Trade aest,
Churchill can fit the aest<->alpha deal exactly with 85 gold. Nice.

75 AD
Get one of the 2 missing fp's in copper online
Horse online near Kushans

I can nick 4gpt for wheat from Ragnar, i wait since it isn't exactly worth it with enormous amounts of gold flying out of the window atm. We can open borders with Monty/Ragnar. Probably could do that at the start of this set as well didn't check. Didn't discuss it but this seems ok.

100 AD
Monty asks for wheat, i give in, the +1 modifier is worth more than 4 gpt.Shweda is built somewhere this turn, no gold for us as i had other things to do in our cities.

I have 4 workers in the southeast where all resources are up now. i keep 2 workers there to build cottages, the rest can move elsewhere. Resource city doesn't need anything, work the mines and resources, whip the rest. 1 worker build a road to the center of the empire

125 AD
Drama in....
make currency deal with Willem fitted with 30 gold on his side, Col deal with Joao + 40. Go poly now

150 AD
Poly in

175 AD
Lit in
We can't trade for math atm, best may be to take a gold turn now to fit that deal exactly.Viay is finally working the other fp's. It can 2 pop whip the settler now, alternatively it can be off queued to keep on working the fp's for a later whip. But there's nothing wrong with just slowbuilding it.

A nasty barb axe turned up in the south, it can move on deer/sheep next turn so i built a road to cover both tiles. We may need to sac some archers on that cleaning up with sword after. Don't forget about this threat.

I roughly finished this turn as i would proceed now, but some things may have to be changed after discussion.

Don't know yet, not in a big hurry either i'd think. We have no marble so costs quite a lot of hammers.Settlers and courthouses are biggest priority now. I'm not so fond of courthouses generally but even after getting three good resource sell deals we're paying loads on maintenance and we will found at least 3 extra cities soon as the open spots are too good to delay for too long.

I'm beginning to wonder if this team bussiness is as hard as we thought at first. Being able to trade in this manner drama for currency, aest for alpha + gold definitely makes things easier. Diplo is hard though. I think we might have been pushed harder for land in some other games, we have enough or at least nearly enough land already to win the game atm.

we have the trade opportunities b/c of the screwed diplo.
We can set up 4 more cities I think which should allows us to be in good position. I am not sure however if we can do the usual cavalry mop up here, though.

Regarding abundant land, we were sort of 'lucky' w/ the iron working and barb cities. And the war went quite well. Have we lost the bloody hill, the game would be looking pretty bad.

Tech: trade math->literature, it's weird Willem doesn't trade it right now, it worths more than maths in his eyes. Could be he has money issues, he is in fin trouble, should fix in a turn or two. Music and trade it for civic service w/ joao. Edit: opps joao doesn't trade w/ us any more, so not sure if we have to go music here at all, Willem/Churchill can get it in a peace deal now

Delhi and the copper city can run 4 scientists, so I guess we should consider switching (in/out if we need whips) to caste soon.

edit2: I think HE can go in resource city.

Caste is an interesting idea. Whip the settlers first, there's room for 4 cities assuming we'll settle horse sw. 3 cities are prime spots, the 4th can wait but even now courthouses are not such a priority they'll need to be whipped now at the cost of good tiles.

I'm surprised as well that math did'nt work, i suggest one turn at 0%. We'll have more of those turns, it's not as in a deity game with liz and 6 ais where you can keep slider 100% until 1000 ad. And it's before our second academy comes into play.

Cav mop up might not be working but if you have > 10 cities you're well placed to make your move shortly after AL/factories. Need to hack away 2 ais here but i think Monty_team will be backward by then.

Not being too familiar with the team formula i'll be cautious, i think our chances of winning are around the 70% mark.

on a side note: joao is 3 tech away form liberalism (all monopoly, super extra weight). That's not exactly good since they won't trade us w/ us until we get the open borders diplo benefit (stupid Toku), or Toku makes some demand (or we adopt mercantilism, hahah)
We still want education badly, of course and philosophy can be good trade stuff too but the odds to win liberalism are not in our favor now, I think.

Monty is our prime candidate for offense, I think we will be better off w/ slow siege/draft than cav, though due to sheer number of troops.

Again: resource city looks like good heroic epic, esp. w/ state property which on this map seems a clear winner. There is not enough food resources (or mining alike) to make corporations shine.

NE: I guess the capital... but I can't come up w/ a good drafting site. Fish w/ some farms can be drafted but far from good.
