The last challenge -- Team game -- Deity trial

hmm, somehow I feel unfulfilled...

Diplo-vic.. after taking the Japanese cities. Both Churchill and Willem votes for us.
I can post the results later or if you prefer I can continue from the save where proposed the UN resolution.
Both Toku and Joao forces were gone, though.

We didn't consider nukes (could have tech'd fission on our own) but seeing a few tactical nukes in the AIs' hands doesn't leave a huge choice...
Like shyuhe said: "I think J/T dug their own grave. "
---
so shall I post the half-lame diplo victory?

A golden age and chronology of a bitter end

So it was left in my hands to handle the great war... or in the hideous explosions of the human genius: the nuclear bombs. As previous note the game offers a totally amazing and unbalanced feature in the human hands, yes nukes and gifting of the latter.

I promptly tipped 2 of them to Willem and 2 to Churchill..
Here is the result (notice to quick work of the operator catching the nukes before the impact)
Spoiler :

...
and again:

The effect was swift and altered the balance. After irradiating their lands Willem and Churchill had peace.

There would be 10 more years to stamp the beginning of the end, marked by the birth of Plato a greatest mind... who granted the Indian people their 3rd golden age (but they never built the fabled Taj Mahal)
Spoiler :

goldenage.jpg

The moron Tokudawa founded the Mining Inc(orporated) but he didn't expect the phantom (!?) menace on his east border...
Spoiler :

womd.jpg

An assembled the greater (yet, far from all) part of the military looked like that.
Spoiler :

strikeforce1.jpg

Not very impressive but there are some jets/bombers and more ground troops around.
It was time to strike, virtually all of the Tokudawa military was packed in a small area (even the hill deployed more than a dozen of paratroopers fit perfectly) , oustanding for the ultimate backstabbing device... and the outcome was ugly:
Spoiler :

The heavily damaged troops were slaughtered mercilessly in front of the a great composure of the Christ the Redeemer...ahh the irony.
Spoiler :

And the statue help the Indian people proclaim Gandhi the new dictator and they hail the nation utmost... Police state+nationhood for the never ending happiness of the war and astounding production of the Indian war machine. And here comes a glimpse of so-a-heavy force for death creation (obsolete, this one is for you):
Spoiler :

thewetproductiondream.jpg

There was only one slight challenge before the Indian warriors. Joao had nukes but he was a fool too... Indeed the nukes were out of the striking distance which could possibly mean an end of many brave souls...
Spoiler :

joaoslittlesurprise.jpg

...So the handling was sort of elegant and marked most of the campaign: air support + spies(heck it's almost 1k EP per turn, must burn, right?), gunships and paratroopers. For most of the part tanks were not very efficient however there were some nukes left... and they exploded.
Talking about the espionage... Indian spies are always online:

but back to the explosions:

Bring the cavalry (erm, the gunships) and mop the defenseless... brutal.
Spoiler :

gunships.jpg

The last touch, jump from the sky (on 3: for god and country.. and Gandhi.. ermmm roland).
Spoiler :

jumpfromthesky.jpg

...to be continued...

With the rest of his army trapped in a single city Joao could not do much.
Spoiler :

The Indian golden age looked pretty impressive baring the so-called GNP which was a utterly boring and unimportant part.
Spoiler :

Meanwhile there was a brief meeting w/ Joao and Toku and both proved some sense of humor

The Indian forces met no resistance at all.Tokyo fell, so the Japanese capital did. A huge dam pumping hundred of metric tons of water amazed the soldier and was shortly connected to the grid supplying electric power to everyone for a great relief that all of the coal plants were declared obsolete.
Spoiler :

kyotop.jpg

Even looking cruel and bloodthirsty the gores and the yelling blood of millions of young bare faced soldiers moved the old heart of Gandhi (roland) and he paid a visit to his old chap Churchill who offered a cup of tea (not whiskey?) and a plan how to divide to world for both of themselves.
An assembly of so called United Nations was summoned shortly that memorial event and here was the outcome:

The leader was ranked high above but the score of 156583 meant nothing to him and only the gods may judge for his life as ruler and dictator arrived to a deserved end.

I don't know if I should have ended the game in a little lame fashion but it gives me comfort due to lack of small micro, the session took me (possibly) over 6 hours and I was far from perfect.
I believe it's my time retire and I hope whoever followed the game enjoyed.
I wish to thank for having me on the team as well as the previous all-out-war game :)

but before the finish here is my humble analysis.

----

It was a difficult game and shyuhe believed it was hopeless at a point the early declaration by the war nuts (which we promptly paid a good revenge) was a significant problem. However that turned us onto the war side and the selection of the Iron Working was (I recon) the best decision in the game. It's not an obvious one but it paid greatly: both by the acquired land and gold.
I still remember, though, dirk's advise that under-expanding would cost the game just as leaving the copper city to the wolves.
The 2nd great moment (although it was somehow expected): converting to spy economy which featured a perfect (and blazing) catch up to the wild tech. rate of Joao and Toku.
3rd I put the tech trade and liberalism race past the war.
The diplomacy skill involved was superb at any level and I believe we made no mistakes there.
No mention needed but I feel obliged: Gandhi of India is a great leader and we made a very good use of both of his traits.

Of course the blunder Joao/Toku committed at the end has no excuse by the human logic, why on earth would anyone allow nukes while cruising the way of power to space (or culture, but the culture was unintended).

Once more: hopefully it was a good game to follow (baring the neverending cottage vs farms debate)

cheers

(PS I believe I have forgotten the save: next turn is the victory)

Fantastic game everyone!
It was a great read as was the Immortal AW one.

It's just a shame it's the last one Duckweed is hosting, I think I might be crazy enough to offer my participation in a new game :D

Congrats :goodjob::goodjob::goodjob::goodjob::goodjob:

And here comes a glimpse of so-a-heavy force for death creation (obsolete, this one is for you):

Oh my, you DO realize that 800 hammers a turn is NOT advisable anymore with the crippling OF bug in the latest patch!?

A lame victory, but very good report. Thanks for finishing the game. Bestsss.

Thanks everyone for making this game to a victory! Especially Bestsss and Shyuhe's persistence through the game! It's a pleasure to play with you. Glad to have you join in the middle, dingding -- master of GP, which I usually don't pay much attention in the late stage of the game.

Last, myself did learn something from the play and I hope there's something worthy of reading.

Indeed, it was a pleasure to play with you guys too :)

Converting our draft farm into a GP farm post rifling was a great move, as it really allowed us to start catching up to the J/T team.

PS. Congrats on BOTM 27 :goodjob:

My last post here:
on the lame finish
I decided to prematurely *finish* it since it was taking a lot of time (I usually attack or move units one by one) and it was already won.
Somehow, it did not feel very well to obliterate them with the nukes and then kill whatever was left without any opposition the only danger were Joaos nukes and then, we have move power than all of the civs left combined.
The 1st of April was planned (and it was) a very tough day which ended with a trip to Norway, so I would have been unavailable.
Lastly I can finally call it end of my civ gaming.

@obsolete
sure I know it is a waste to have such a murderous hammer output in a single city and I believe it should be allowed to produce more than a single unit per turn. I hope it gets addressed some time... Reminds me call to power where the best option was putting all the mega sea colonies to gold production and then use nano factories in space to outbuy units.

On a side note: the kill-death ratio was amazing.

Interesting... I would love to see you guys do a new team... though any attempt of OSS's captain stealing, the mighty shyuhe, will be severly punished... I love "Plastic Ducks" (maybe more fitting) or the "French Toast Mafia" :goodjob:

Hello :)

Team name suggestions (sorry for lack of imagination and extra humor):
-The B-Team
-Plastic Ducks

-Midnight Players

Hi!

Coming up with names is not one of my main strengths (witnessed by my nickname :)), however...

Plastic Ducks is kinda ok.. but that pic would go well with Plastic Fantastic as well.. or Plastic Phantastic .. or even Plastic Fanatics
