ur screen lol!
A Job centre in England refused to accept an advertisement for a "reliable" worker because it discriminated against unreliable people.

Nicole Mamo, who runs a recruitment company, posted a request for a domestic cleaner on her local Jobcentre Plus website.

It asked little of applicants other than that they have a good command of English and "must be very reliable and hard-working".

However, when she contacted Jobcentre Plus in Thetford, Norfolk, a member of staff told her the advert would not be displayed in-store in case unreliable workers sued for discrimination.

"I laughed because I thought that was crazy," said Miss Mamo, whose company also supplies NHS staff.

"We are taking people off the dole so not displaying the advert just seems absolutely ridiculous to me."

A spokesman for the Department for Work and Pensions would not comment on why the advert was turned down but said it was accepted eventually.

"We welcome ads seeking reliable applicants," she said.

 So tell me one good thing about living in England! ;)

Being basically lazy but highly reliable, I am far more offended by the second job requirement.

I was thinking about posting this story myself.

It is so stupid. Just an example of the politically correct disease which pervades our government and society.

More like a case of a few staff members in the job centre not using their brains.

Why must people exaggerate and extrapolate some grand issues from little incidents?

This MUST have been a poorly conveyed joke. I refuse to believe it wasn't...

If this is true, some people have a meeting with a hungry tiger.

I seriously hope this is not true. if it is, I'd have to go to England and start post Anal Cùnt ( not ù, u! damn autocensor thingie, it's a name! would you censor Dick Cheney? no you don't! the autocensor thingie is Republican. and Evil. now we know it ) lyics everywhere. which would be boring.

This.

Or it's just one silly person. This isn't a policy by anyone of significance. Anyone who thinks otherwise is gullible and willing to believe anything that invokes "POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GORN MAAAAAD".

Also it's in the damn article:

A spokesman for the Department for Work and Pensions would not comment on why the advert was turned down but said it was accepted eventually.

"We welcome ads seeking reliable applicants," she said.

I swear some people think some PC bogeyman is out there trying to repress them. It's an absurd meme. I suspect they may be the same people who think holding them to the consequences of their unpleasant interpersonal behaviour or arseholish language is "PC oppression".

Hang on now.

This is not political correctness, this is some utter moron getting their way. Political correctness is things like anti-racism, anti-homophobia, equal gender rights etc. Whoever made this decision should be kicked down a metal staircase. But it isn't political correctenss, its officiousness.

And this is way I believe there should be cracked team of snipers stationed around the world to kill people who cause this crap.

There is almost certainly more to this story that what is reported in the obviously scant article. Hard to find a reliable source, oddly enough, but the Torygraph says this:
She said: “We cannot comment about the phone call. I can confirm that we took the advert from the employer and put it onto our website. Every advert goes onto our website and onto the job points.

“Reliability is important to employers, as it is for Jobcentre Plus - and we welcome ads seeking reliable applicants.”

Maybe that was what they were looking for? it would explain why they didnt want to offend anyone:p

The new PC is to be anti-PC.
