made Oklahoma the earthquake capital of the world...and its a twofer! They were already the tornado capital of the world.

At its peak, there has been an approximately 800-fold increase in the annual number of earthquakes in Oklahoma since 2011.

Now a major study by the University of Bristol and involving the University of Southampton, Delft University of Technology and Resources for the Future, published today in the journal Science, shows conclusively that Oklahoma's seismicity is strongly linked to fluid injection depth.

The study also shows how raising injection well depths to above the basement rocks in key areas could significantly reduce the annual energy released by earthquakes—thereby reducing the relative likelihoods of larger, damaging earthquakes. Current regulatory interventions include requiring operators to either reduce injection or raise wells above the basement, often by an unspecified amount.

At least they're learning why...

Okay, I apologize to Wyoming for giving their crown to Oklahoma

At least they're learning why...

I believe its because of the Homos, Mexicans and Liberals ?
I doubt anything will come from the study, it blindly ovious when you go from an average of 3 earthquakes per year to 800 earth quakes per year the same year as major gas fracking started. Maybe the state will extract some monies from the gas industry but that will not happen while Republicans are in charge. Hell Trump just waived the mass money laundering fines for Deutche Bank I can see the same happening for the Gas industry

It should be noted that the study points the finger at waste water injection rather than fracking itself.
Obviously fracking produces a lot of water but the study also notes that water produced by conventional drilling is the cause.
The problem is the depth that the water is pumped down too.
I assume they are pumping it deep to avoid the ground water.
So they will have too treat the water but that will mean regulations, shock horror.
