Like, there is the relatively famous pic of the mrs depew story where mrs depew was a bear (google it if you haven't seen it). Moderator Action: Snip, link removed. is based off of that (nsfw langauge) But I seem to remember a couple comics that flowed like the following:
<cute well drawn romance scenes; guy flirting with girl, girl flirting with guy, they go out, then they go for a kiss and.....
girl turns into a bear (was a bear in disguise)>

But it comes from out of nowhere. Like it's actually a cute comic and the guy/girl are about to kiss when it happens.

Until recently, Pillars Of The Earth (Greatest book ever) and It's sequel, World Without End (which is also set about 200 years later, and is only a book)
