I'd go for sure if he asked me to or I thought he wanted me to. I was just thinking it might seem weird to them if I just showed up for the funeral of someone I didn't really know. Going to the wake is probably a better idea, yeah...

I had one earlier this year. It's rather depressing. But I'm mostly over it now.

I found one of the better ways to get over one is to keep busy. When I started my site I was busy setting it up to keep having it.

I have a question. I recently read a news article from the past few years. A newspaper went out of business and they stuck all their back issues in the basement of a warehouse. And somehow they all got lost because they got molded over or the basement flooded. Does anyone have a link? Google isn't helping.

I realized something gross last night. I have 2^1 parents, 2^2 grandparents...2^10 ten generations ago. 40 generations or back in the medieval era I had 2^40 ancestors in that generation and when Rome was big I had 2^80. This is means that we are massively inbreed. This must also mean that if I meet a girl we must have common ancestors not to long ago, in otherwords, all relationships are somewhat incestuous.

My previous rule was I do not date anyone that I am in anyway related to in any way. I now know that this is impossible. So how far back is it ok to have a common ancestor? Same great great grandfather ok? 5 generations? 6?

Man has 23 Pairs of Chromosomes. It's not too difficult to calculate the average number of identical chromosome pairs. It is usually the easiest way to just count the minimum number of identical ancestors. If you want to procreate with your cousin, the risk of genetic diseases is significantly higher when your parents and her parents have alltogether have only two pairs of parents.
Great grandfather is usually considered as safe as unrelated and cousins have only low risks.

I'd say that what you don't know, won't kill you. One more reason spouses shouldn't go too far back when they compare family trees.

Full suit and tie was standard fair at my high school.

Well at my school homecoming is more about wearing what you want and not necessarily being all dressed up. But it might be different for you, so I'd say casual but not jeans perhaps? or a nice pair of jeans and a nice shirt or something.
