Peanut butter isn't exactly... ideal... you'd need something with a lot more viscosity or a lot more, uhh, slow/dispersed kinetic energy absorption for lack of a better term.

I don't know. I think it's pretty clever, actually. The traits you are looking for are something that applies pressure on all parts of the egg, something that will absorb the impact, and something that will allow the to come to a halt less than immediate.

Also remember when the outcome is questionable how the egg lands is going to be a big deal. Eggs are pretty strong when pushed on the top and bottom, they crush much more easily when the force is applied to the "sides."

So where do the various nutritional advisers get the 2500 calories/day thing from? To me that seems like the wrong number. Are they making lots of assumptions of exercising 30 minutes a day? Walking to work? Height: 5"9? etc etc?

Aye, i think they are a lot of nonsense. Best to visit yer doctor IMO. I'm just working off the general principle of using more calories then i consume but i wanted to get into a bit more details and i find the web is full of articles of journalists making a slightly-better-informed opinion then a layman or they are trying to sell me something.

Anyone here sponsor kids?

I don't do that whole "fly on face" sponsorship sort of deal, but I participate in Lion's Club International which engages both in local scholarships and pretty heavily in supplying used glasses and fresh water wells for poorer areas of the world. The goal would be to cure all preventable blindness, which is a hella tall order, but free glasses goes a lot farther than you might think.

Who,What,Where,When,Why? :lol::crazyeye:

All help is good I guess. :goodjob:

You hope this is true, but in reality it isn't. Lion's Club International learned that the hard way in the mid 1900s. They used to send out used eyeglasses for free in the exact format they were received. Unfortunately, sometimes that involved sending lenses in relatively valuable frames. Recipients of those glasses could now see, but they were wearing something of high relative value very visibly on their face in some very rough and poor areas. After enough reports of people being injured or killed while being robbed for their frames Lion's Clubs now remove the lenses from all donated glasses and reframe them in cheap, ugly, but durable plastic frames so that this doesn't happen.

True. That's why I guess it still happens every year you have a stupid Westerner, rich or middle class, visiting some Asian country and they get encounter by some poor adult/child. Instead of going on or giving them small amount of money and living they give them something "fancy" instead, like a leather jacket (which you probably should not wear in a bad nation anyhow) or whatever, then that person is happy..... until they get held up later on over it.

No, but if I ever have kids of my own I'm shipping them off to Africa. Then I'll sponsor them and for a dollar a day feed, clothe and educate them. Plus I'll get a letter from them once a month praising me.

:lol::lol:

I sponsor a girl from the Philippines from a group that I think is decent. It doesn't seem to be to be honest, but ask me in a year if I'm still doing it though.

Yeah, I intend to keep the egg upright by making sure the bubblewrap/peanut butter combo is wrapped fairly tightly around it, hopefully it will remain upright on impact.

Why you want to do this again if I may ask?

AP Physics.

Also, how could I simulate the force of impact without actually dropping off a 75 ft tall building?
