The Mars Chronicles

yeah indeed.... gekke jongens die Third Reichers :p

anyway, well the reason I think that one is incorrect is twofold.
1. It says Springtime, and as Jwitti rightly says, Napoleon was defeated by Winter
2. It's place on the "Timeline" It is placed after the first trains and industrialism at which point Napoleon was long gone...

A short blue rider meets a chill wind.

That is Napoleon's defeat in Russia. France is blue. Napoleon is short. And Russia's famous general winter.

As far as I know, Napoleon's 'defeat' because of the Russian winter was just a retreat in which 90% of his troops died... And later, the third reich does the EXACT SAME THING with better weapons :wallbash:

and soon china will do it the other way around.

good point.

Both RS and Olaf were mostly right.

Just to clear some things up:

The world is coated with ice, the world thaws away. refers to the Snowball Earth period(s). between 800 and 600 million years ago, where virtually the entire Earth was covered by an ice sheet. The Earth looked something like this:
snoballearth.jpg

The hypothesis is still relatively obscure, however.

Eagles and swordsmen clash. refers to the ongoing War on Terror. "Swordsmen" has to do with how the Koran says to practice jihad.

Happiness turns to sadness. Starting over. New worlds.
was me trying to condense the prologue into 2 or 3 sentences. ;)

I must point out that the Vikings, despite popular misconception, didn't actually wear horned helmets. :p

It also seems like he skipped over a few early on that just seem like intermediate steps (Like "Primates" between Mammals and Humans) or are self-explanatory. Some, like "Chariots roll, metal against metal" and "Sword meets sword, explosions and smoke" just seem to refer to general conflicts at the time.

Do "One dies, and lines are dug through the mud" refer to Franz Ferdinand and WWI, respectively?

"Angels of Death flying high" sounds like WWII Bombers.

And lastly, what is "Springtime?" Nobody seems to be able to figure that out.

Obviously

Good point. But that is how they are recognzied, so yeah :p

You are correct about the conflicts. The first one was just generic ancient Eastern Med/FC warfare, although it works fine for a specific conflict such as the Assyrian invasion, while the second one was generic Renaissance/Age of Discovery warfare, although it could refer to the 30 Years War or another specific conflict.

Do "One dies, and lines are dug through the mud" refer to Franz Ferdinand and WWI, respectively?
Correct :)

"Angels of Death flying high" sounds like WWII Bombers.
"Angel of Death" actually refers to the Nazis (the nickname is actually that of Josef Mengle. The reason I picked it was because of this song.

And lastly, what is "Springtime?" Nobody seems to be able to figure that out.
Springtime of Nations. Or, less specific, a general rise in nationalism and patriotism in the early 1800s.

What are you talking about? I just attempted to post something much longer to test that, and it still said the limit was 30K.

It's an excuse to raise his post count!

Did you try and post it in a PM or in a group?
