The NESer Neptune's Pride Thread!

Well are not two of you playing the submissive 2nd and 3rd?

IT really depends if merciary will help us or not. He only has a chance to place if he stabs Iggy, somehow survives the Iggy counter attack, and then grab more land faster than I can. If Iggy falls, it is almost assured that Daft or Joakim will place.

EDIT: Merciary is technically his ally, but he hasn't been doing much after we crushed him. Other than that, he betrayed my trust when he gave more weapons to merciary than to me, his tech ally who has been feeding him the entire time.

To be honest, I offered to be Iggy's wingman for the endgame. But then we had a disagreement and Iggy had fun toying with me, sending in his fleets as far as my homeworld and then partly withdrawing.

I don't care about places, I now burn with desire for vengence :)

EDIT:

What happened to Daftpanzer wasn't your fault... Vengence doesn't factor into this. Our revolution is about freedom. When you figure it out, let us know. We're waiting on you....

In this game, I haven't really had any proper allies, unlike previous games. I traded techs with Terrance in the first half of the game, and that's about it. Everything else has been self-researched, if I recall correctly, and I've been providing merciary with weapons technology in one-way trades. I don't think there was any betrayal, it's not like I accepted a bunch of techs and didn't reciprocate, we just generally phased out trading.

Mostly, that's been me playing IC. The Warmasters like to see people fight before they become allies. Of course, when dealing with normal people, that ends up just antagonizing people. I ended up with a ridiculous lead because no one tried to stop me while I took over the space of the useless AIs, so I already had sixty stars without having to fight a major war. If someone had attacked me on another front while I was doing this, I would not have been able to do so and probably would have been crippled.

Game Six continues, as Lord_Iggy and merciary go into all out war against Daftpanzer, Terrance888, and lord_joakim. Meanwhile, tensions rise as players begin to collide in Game Eight. OwenGlyndwr and EQandCivfanatic have dropped out, which promises to make Matt0088 and Thlayli the superpowers of the south and north respectively, while bombshoo, Shadowbound, Lord_Iggy and merciary do battle for the region's center.

So, can someone do a little writeup for Game 4, and tell me who finished in which position so I can add the points to the scoreboard?

^That Game

I think it was Umphat ftw, with dark dude second and EC 3rd.

Could you give the order of finishing? IE: People listed in the order of stars remaining at endgame. For people who were eliminated, they're listed with the most recently eliminated player first, etc.

Umphat Imperium at 91 Stars
dark dude with 51 Stars
EC1029 with 24 stars
Itzz Clay with 7 stars
Star Flyer with 2 Stars
Omega124 with 1 star
Boundless with 0 stars
Aiken Starwhomper with 0 Stars

Part One (From the view of the Eternal Eclipse)
The Pompous Starwhomperians have spread their tentacles in all directions, refusing border agreements with the Eclipse and annoying the heck out of everyone. Dark Dude spread rumors that Boundless is gathering a crusade against Starwhomper, who promptly attacks boundless. With his homeworlds undefended the Umphat Imperium, Eternal Eclipse, and Starflyer all eagerly dug into the buffet. The biggest winner is Starflyer, who gained a meaty border which was useful in the Great War. Umphat won the homeworlds after an Ecliptic assault weakened it while the Eternal Eclipse won the right to not get killed by Umphat, who had the luck with various resource-heavy stars.

Part Two
After the July 4th Truce with Starflyer ended, Whomperian Remnants continue fighting, assisiting Boundless' desperate attack on the Imperium. While Starflyer, Itzz and EC1029 ganged up on the postrate Omega, the Umphat dealt the beatdown on the Whomperian Remant and the boundless threat, assisted by Ecliptic auxillaries. The main Ecliptic force lay on the Whomperian March, faced with the decision of heading east of west.

Part Three
What pulled the trigger was the EC-Flyer assault on Itzz, a traditional tech ally of the Ecliptic forces. With large bribes paid by both sides, it was this and their refusal to end the assault which led the Eternal Eclipse to wholeheartedly throw their forces against their former ally, the Star Flyer. The Umphat Imperium's hold on the Whomperian Homeworlds crushed their main defenses while the Ecliptic shadowfleets outflanked Starflyer.

Part Four
The Flyerian forces counter attacked savagely, but their ally EC also betrayed them by refusing to strike at the Allied Flank. Eventually, they conceded victory after a hardfought battle. However, the Ecliptic forces mourned, for their allies have cut them off from continued involvement in galactic events.

Part Five
While the Eternal Eclipse regrouped and prepared for ascention, the forces of the Imperium and EC crushed Itzz, who was ignored due to the fact that he is useless in galatic events as the Eclipse was. And so the battle for Epsilon Girtab ended.

Thanks for that Terrance. :D

Gamma Alfecca, or Game Six, is into its final hours. I'm at 89/90 stars, and although Terrance888 is about to take one from me with his 400-strong superfleet, I'm about to crash into Daftpanzer with about twice as many, on every front.

As things are right now:

1st (10 Points) Lord_Iggy (89 Stars)
2nd (5 Points) Terrance888 (36 Stars)
3rd (1 Points) lord_joakim (22 Stars)
4th Daftpanzer (21 Stars)
5th merciary (9 Stars)
6th Astar
7th Sunviper
8th AJAX

Oh god. And I thought our counter attack might work.

Sending subsidies right now. Hah!

EDIT: I also retook Unuk and is going for Wezen, Ashlesha and so on. Counter attack FTW.

So after all that talk of warrior nobility, you walk away from Terrance's honourable challenge and turn back against me, as a cheap and easy way of getting the stars you need? This after I'm weakened from merciary's inexplicable attack against me, the one who'd been his friend all game and was fighting against his enemies...

Weak, weak play from Iggy and merciary :p

HULK SMASH! I have redirected and split up my fleets to pursue your cowardly 'battlefleets' and their hang-tailed retreat! Eat that Iggy. :p One Aries-Dreadnought per fleet. They are weakened from atrition, but I've got more reinforcemetns if their mission succedes.

This coming from the guy who I did everything to court to my side, to whom I gave two weapons techs, returned a homeworld, and still refused to join with me. ;)

When did you fight against an enemy of merciary? I thought I had pretty close tabs on what was going on throughout the game. I've been helping to provide merciary with technologies since he began his war against the south, and did everything I could to help stave off his defeat, I think I earned a bit of loyalty from him and he had no issues with going out in a bang, when I last talked to him.

Besides, where do you think my other 500+ ships are heading? ;) As a hint, it rhymes with 'Graight Gouthward'.

You didn't do that much: I gave you 2 speed and 3 scanning IIRC. Anyway, Joakim did much more for me and his land was too strong to backstab early, and useless to backstab later.

Besides, it makes a good story of the Aries Corporation failing in Gamma Alfeca and eventually pulling out. :)

I was saying that in response to Daftpanzer, our period of tech trading is well-known, I think.

Iggy, I am bitter and twisted

By fighting merciary's enemy, I meant you, the one who cleaved him in half!

Arrakis falls to the Ultrawierd Magnetaxe in 1h 50m from this post, unless my garrison of 3 ships can pull of a miracle...

Actually the cleaving was done of my own free will. two worthless stars in exchange for bring Iggy in.

I didn't cleave merciary... that was done by Terrance888 and lord_joakim. I took fully two systems, one of them 0/1/0 and the other 0/0/0, from merciary. The rest were systems that had once been merciary's, only to later be conquered by the Terrance/joakim alliance. merc and I have moved from being tense neighbours, to peaceful neighbours, to tech-sharing allies throughout the course of this game.
