The Next NES of Das: Development Thread

Will the start of the NES be as OTL or althistory?

Oh and can I steal some of these rules for my NES?

I am not sure what exactly do you mean, but it will probably be explained when I post the pre-NES thread. If you mean the very ancient history, it will be OTLish, though not rigidly so, and after ~1200 BC (or even ~1700 BC) things should diverge quite radically from OTL. How exactly will largely depend on the nations the first players pick.

Oh and can I steal some of these rules for my NES?

Since when do people ask for my permission? Sure, go ahead.

@das, are we allowed to deviate a little bit from the usual Green-Red Zones? I have constructed a huge list from Babylon to Samoa, so if I know how strict your gonna be on the initial startings, I can seriously trim it down ;)

@silver, what are you planning, silver-san?

Strategos's Alt-History remeber? The Eternal Wait (fitting name...) since my exams are almost over. Last one is tommrow. So summer vacation starts.

Fairly strict, BUT: sufficiently justified deviations will be allowed. Samoa probably still won't work, though. ;)

Ok, how about Korea, Japan, Central Asia, West Africa, Andes, Arabian red sea coast, or around Lake Baikal? :mischief:

I read all of the rules, they look pretty solid though I am eager to see these military doctrines.

Oh! The doctrines! Knew I forgot something. ;) Thanks.

Azale - these will be taken into consideration, but most of them are pretty unlikely for the first pre-update. Still, I won't say anything final yet. For Arabia, Central Asia and Korea in particular there still is hope.

I would have thought the Andes before Central Asia....

Anyhow, I like the rules overall, although I detest the breaking down of the economy in such a fashion. The areas overlap way too much and it simply adds extra work for the Mod.

I don't think I'll be able to join immediately, as I'm about to leave for a month-long trip.

Ill join, probably in Greece or Rome :D

The Andes are a given, actually; they were a green zone from the start in ITNES I, it's just that nobody bothered taking anything there before Disenfrancised came along.

I'm working on the CZ map; after some research I have decided to include a fair amount of regions that weren't included in the original.

True, but there are some ways in which this would be helpful, at least for myself.

I will also join as Greece, just to create difficulties. Actually, I don't know where I'll join, but I will definitely join.

However, computer access will be sketchy around July 5th-11th-ish (see vacation thread), so I hope it starts before or after then ;)

Actually I would really like to advise people not to start next to each other if possible - neighbours have higher chances of being destroyed or assimilated, and at any rate new areas will become available as time goes on.

People, please do wait for the pre-NES thread to appear. No prior claims will be taken seriously.

Not even one by Dachspmg for Rome?

I need to copyright that country...seems I use it or one of its forms altogether too often...;)

I like the new rules, I think all changes are for the better.

One thing seems a bit out of synch though - you've removed the "Age" system for technology (very good), but under the Education stat you still say that reaching Enlightenment will increase the chances of reaching the next Age. I guess this is a left-over, no?
