The "OMG! Look what happened in DoC!" Thread

I can't say why exactly but Confucianism in Arkhangelsk bothers me immensely. It triggers me whenever i take a look at the picture. It's feels creepy and wrong, dunno why.

EDIT: probably it's half-forgotten memories of Broken Star scenario with its nonsensical religion distribution.

I am responsible for it, not the game . I like to experiment with things.

At some point we should start collecting 1.18 "presentation images", like what can happen on the new map. For example, it is possible to create Belomorkanal:

129,000 GULAG prisoners were involved in the construction work. Hand tools were used to build the canal: shovels, picks, crowbars, chisels, hand saws, stretchers and wheelbarrows. Stones, peat, wood and earth were used as building materials. In total, the prisoners shoveled 21 million cubic meters of earth. The first steamship, Chekist, sailed along the entire canal on June 25, 1933. The canal was named the Stalin Canal. The total length of the canal was 227 kilometers and horrible human cost is estimated around 25,000 deaths.

Are the northern Siberian cities worth it? When figuring out city placements I kept wanting to settle south and ignore the north.

Not pre-Ecology, no. If you can't chop the taiga they're pretty useless. Here's another example of the 10 required Siberian cities from my game. As you can see, with Russia there's plenty of flexibility to use the massive amounts of land however you want even without settling the taiga.

I was only worried about aesthetics of USSR ( my birth country), but after you remove some taiga you get quite a few good tiles.

I'm not sure how "OMG" this actually is, but it appears in the absence of European settlements in North America so far, Mohawk raiders have been forced to range all the way to Mexico....

Given Ottoman score and their ownership of Italy, there might not be much of Europe capable of expanding left.

Also sometimes England/France are dealt a bad hand; at least in 1.17 i saw pristine Eastern US Coast at least a few times, save for New Orleans (French are usually hellbent on founding it).

This is extremely common in 1.18 as of now, in my experience.

Wow this is by far the biggest AI Tenotchiclan I've ever seen !
I guess that nerfed tech rate is hitting everyone, huh
Hmm maybe not the best subthread to discuss this but I disagree: *some* civs have been hit hard. But I'll elaborate it in general thread

You wouldn't be wrong on that. I haven't seen it exactly but most notably china still techs REALLY strong, mongolia, etc. I have not yet seen arabia come into play. But in my current spain game I can attest that practically all of the european civs have nerfed tech rates. France isn't as much of a monster as it was in the renaissance, HRE never reaches academia before netherlands (neither do I, lol), Italy for some reason techs well
