The "OMG! Look what happened in DoC!" Thread

If Ottomans can’t grab Damascus or Thessalonika early they will never get iron and are worn down over time by HRE, Poland, and sometimes Italy, who usually declare war on them.
Oh here's some Peak Irony for ya (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🎖🎖🎖🎖): Ottos owned both cities on on this turn. The Palaiologan Rennaissance seems to have denied the Macedonian iron, and over in the Levant a mondo stack of Great Bombs with a meager Janny escort was marooned in Damascus without cultural control of a single tile. Hehe in both cases they could literally see the iron from the city walls. It was a unusual game all around so don't read the above as a submitted counterexample, as I agree with your insight entirely anyway.

In my SE Asia games I have seen Java take cities outside its historical territory. But usually it was Saigon or Indrapura. Maybe the AI knew it was lightly defended and sent an invasion force. Java’s AI is aggresive and the AI in general seems much better at invading across bodies of water than in the past.

Java been Hot Lava all around fo' sho'. I saw the "Javanese Civilization has been destroyed" I think for the first the other day. Almost spit my out my sip of beer in the wake of such dumbfoundible flabbergasterisitude.

We'll see if mighty Krakatoa can still erupt like this *when* (fingers-crossed) the bossman deems that the TC areas be adjusted to our particular wishes (#FallOfMajapahit #Batavia #VOC)

It's a bit difficult to build the St. Sophia Cathedral historically (~ 1011 - 1037). Takes a while for Orthodoxy to spread naturally, and building it is slow, whether purely via city production or via Great Engineer. To be fair, it ain't part of the Rus UHV...

Stumbled upon the English invading across the Channel and taking Paris.

Soon, they took Bordeaux and forced the French to capitulate.
Hundred Years War gone good.

Western European civs loved to grab random cities in Eastern Europe. It reminds me of the old 1000 AD scenario for vanilla Civ IV.

Is the previous owner independents? Barbarians?
