It is July 1906. The Commonwealth of England invades the small Emirate of Rome, a province of the Caliphate of Arabia.

The Empire of Greater Japan comes to Arabia’s defence and declares war on England.

This triggers the defensive pact between England and the Caliphate of Spain, who declares war on Japan.

The Chinese Empire answers its pact with Japan and declares war on Spain. England declares war on China. This brings the Americans into the war on England's side, through their pact with Spain; and the Ottoman Caliphate as an ally of China.

Vassals of England, Brittany the Dominion of Portugal and the Dominion of Mexico all enter the war.

Vassals of Japan, the Tributary Ethiopian State enters the war.

England then declares war on the Mongol Empire. This triggers its defensive pact with the Indian Maharajate & India’s vassals the Khmer also enters the war. Spain declares war on India.

This triggers another defensive pact with the Islamic Incan Regions. England and her allies declare war on Inca.

By the end of 1906, the First World War has begun. There are two enormous power blocs:
The Commonwealth of England

Brittany
Dominion of Portugal
Dominion of Mexico​

The Caliphate of Spain
The United States of America

The Caliphate of Arabia

The Emirate of Rome​

The Empire of Greater Japan

The Tributary Ethiopian State​

The Chinese Empire
The Ottoman Caliphate
The Mongol Empire
The Indian Maharajate

The Protectorate of Kampuchea​

Note that the screenshots were taken several turns after the initial event: the foreign advisor page wasn't working, so by this point I (Inca) and Monoglia are at peace with Spain. I'm still not entirely sure what brought Monoglia & India into the war (England declared war on Monoglia in my event log), but I can only assume that they have a defensive pact with someone I don't have an embassy or contact with at the moment.

Nonetheless, this has to rank up as one of the biggest Civ conflicts: the war horn went on for a good 10 minutes! Who would have thought a some act of agression in a European backwater would lead to the first global conflict that drags in powers from distant Mongolia and South America (least of all me >.>)

WW1 sorta started the same way - some tiny country getting attacked,and war starts.

But i have never had wars this big in my games.

I always get dragged into huge wars as America when some ahole in Europe DoW on me in the mid 1800s when I just traded them stuff this is nothing new to me.

That's me playing as Inca. Fortified a Scout on the tip of Brazil and got lucky when a Spanish Caravel wandered past and didn't trigger the Conqueror event (Using Dawn of Civ, btw).

Personally, I just usually build fishing boats in Nazca (I prefer it to Cuzco) ASAP and fort them all around the coast. No caravel has ever reached me when I used that method.

that's a fairly large empire...

does anyone else think the population count isn't very accurate especially for later game?

Show me a billion Egyptians, Babylonians, Ethiopians or Malians. With conquest or domination, all the Europeans, Chinese, Persians, Turks, Japanese, Americans, Aztecs, Incans and even Cambodians are easy. Indians are moderately hard.

It's more rare than difficult... When i finish all my conquest games the entire world population is usually only around 200 milllion, thought a billion was a nice challenge

okay...first of all...this game has zombies, when one unit dies,or there is a fight, there is a chance another unit will be created(most recent zombies are cossacks i killed east of Posen), and there was still the same cossack?

Russia colonized SE Africa
Netherlands is localized in South Africa, no, they never collapsed
Portugal never tried to hiper-expand in Brazil
China,Mongolia and Arabia never collapsed, and China and Arabia are two of the strongest nations.
Astecs are fightning England, and are conquering New York(they already got Florida!)
and much more...

i wont be able to win a UHV because the first didn't was activated.

No, this is usually rifleman/infantry.. as soon as I get Nationhood really. Even conventional war is pretty destructive on population

Yes, but not normally until after they have crushed the Babs. The barbs normally build Tushpa, so they might have captured it, the other one, I dunno.
