I don't have specific running shoes I wear some jack of all trades trainer. That could be a decent area to look into though. I may try the 1 minute off/on method it sounds reasonable - although I expect I'l need to slow the running down.

TYVM for response :goodjob:

It's possible then that you are suffering from shin splints. Buy a good pair of running shoes and go for some light jogs. If it turns out that it was the shoes, then you can increase the intensity of your exercise.

Hm, did you catch my post correctly? I started exercising my shins (anterior tibialis.)

And see my previous post for a whole bunch of links to pubmed with studies about how expensive shoes are useless.

Try these shoes:

Rather than music try listening to "books on tape" or whatever they are called now.

Allow me to clarify my typo. You merely stopped exercising your calves. At least not nearly to the point at which you had been.

Expensive shoes are useless if they fit poorly or are purchased merely for appearance and style rather than comfort. If you buy a good-fitting pair of shoes that are made using quality materials your feet and legs will be better for it.

No but you eat the DNA, and use it, so why doesn't you become a fish, like your DNA and the fishe DNA fuse?

(by the way, I finished a university level grade 12 course of Advanced Biology with 75% average last semester :p )

If you don't know this, your teacher should be fired.

Like said above, your teacher should be fired.
From a cannon.

Tekee, you have absolutely no understanding of even basic biology if you are asking this question. Your teacher should be placed against a wall and shot.

Books-on-tape are fine for walking, but music is listened to during exercise due to the rhythm - at least, that's why I listen to it. A book-on-tape may not be a good idea during strenuous exercise.

...Why does English class require reading so much boring - and if not that, depressing - literature? Why can't there be more fun crap?!

Boring or depressing work depends almost entirely upon whoevers reading it, I had a good time reading some stuff given to me like the outsiders or animal farm but I had a real problem with reading Of Mice and Men.

Not that I had trouble understanding the book, just that it was incredibly short and yet I found myself getting angry at how repetitive it was

high literature is very often repetitive and therefore boring. The older works also have tonnes of references to things you wont know about/understand unless you have a wider knowledge of the area. For instance try reading anything by Homer without topping up your knowledge on Greek Gods and not using the editors notes.

Not generally. I mean look at genre fiction. You have LOTR fan-fics a-plenty for fantasy. Endless Harlequinesque romance novels. Formulaic true-crime. And a sea of novels involving vampires vs. werewolves complete with sadomasochistic overtones.

Oh yeah of course but i was solely referring to high literature with regards to an English as i'm not sure if it has changed since i went to school but I am not entirely sure that teaching standards have sunk so low that they are now reading Twilight. :)

It can get pretty bad in the States. They've sunk so low as to force many classes to read that bootblacking gutter writer Dickens' works. :shake:

Australian literature for high-school is almost universally bad. I had to do Fly Away Peter by David Malouf. At the time I though the book was terrible with few redeeming qualities, the best of which was its astonishing brevity. Interestingly, I asked my teacher and an ex-teacher about the quality of the work and I got something like this: "terrible book but it makes the markers hard. It also helps poor students because just about anyone can write something vaguely intelligent about it. And even if they completely miss the point at least its vague enough that the markers won't be able to come to do heavy on it." That said, I tend to think there is a perception that high-school literature is universally bad. I know of a number of people who read The Great Gatsby and loathed it with a passion, who now on reflection don't quite get why they hated it. I suspect the control of what you read is probably the big sticking point for most people... although reading ability might also account for part of it.

My girlfriend loves The Great Gatsby. I've never read it myself. I was forced to read Tim Winton novels, which cause permanent stunting of my reasoning faculties. I may never recover.

Tim Winton. Yeah, no. Literally the only good Australian writer is J.M. Coetzee with Disgrace and the Life & Times of Micheal K being the standouts. Some of his stuff like Diary of a Bad Year is weird to say the least. Coetzee is also a bloody Boer emigrate, does he even count?

They count Bryce Courtney as Australian and he's also South African, so I guess so. There are actually several good Australian sci-fi authors, but I can't think of their names right now.

Bryce Courtney: and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then! Wait, no, its to early for anything interesting. And then, and then....

Yeah, Tim Winton's a popular one for schools. I did Dirt Music for my HSC (although that was my chosen additional text), and there was some other Australian guy who had a dislike similar to your own for Winton's work:
I just remembered something we were forced to read. That eye, the sky, by Tim Winton, who's supposed to be one of Australia's best authors. If I ever meet the meet, I will punch him full-force in the face. I mean that.

Only one girl in the class even bothered to finish it, and she actually had headaches for days afterwards. I've read literally thousands of books in my time, many of them bad, but this was hands-down the worst tripe I've ever seen. It made less sense than porn flicks, and the characterisations weren't as good either.

See all the studies I linked.

I'm not sure there's much of a correlation between good-fitting shoes and price of shoes.

FWIW, when I shop for shoes, I don't look at the price tag before I choose the footwear I want, after trying on everything that interests me.

Make better videos.

Make better videos.

Somehow I saw that one coming. :p I should have included a note about such things...

I was hoping for something more specific and constructive, and just general ways to get the word out... rather than just flaming.

Why does eating someone's brain not make you more intelligent?

Good running shoes will vary from £30 to £100. Cheaper ones will fall apart more easily. That's my experience, anyway. I've never gone anywhere near the overpriced trainers from generic sports shops. There are enough running shops to do it properly.

Oh yes, The Great Gatsby is rubbish.

Why do you people keep responding to such statements like that? The baiting is rather obvious.

What happened to this pic?
