The Speech that won the election

Whoever wrote this speech is a genius.

Wait for the punchline. Completely worth it. This one will go down in history.

You think that was a good speech?
I don't see it. Too Al Sharpton for me... "Side steppin'", next he'll be saying if the glove don't fit, you must acquit.

I find it amusing this guy Obama, 4 years as President, can't campaign on his record, but has to resort to just demonizing the opposition... He sucks... BAD!

I have an absolutely foolproof plan that will stop 100% of illegal immigration.

You can probably figure this one out for yourself. If not...
Spoiler :
Legalize immigration.

If there is one thing I have learned from American TV, it's that people will not remember things unless it rhymes.

It's sadly true... catchy, gimmicky speech delivery is a hallmark of Obama... I'm not sure that it is effective 4 years later when people can now look at his record.

We have legal immigration. So much so it makes Europe look xenophbic in comparison.

The American Indians want there country back.

 I don't watch TV so I don't see the ads, but from the debates, it seems he's running a much more positive message than negative, and more positive than Romney. Romney's got that whole "I want to create jobs" talk, but that's not being positive, that's being negative on the other guy with pleasant rhetoric. But Obama's pretty up on his accomplishments and frankly I think he has every right to be.

Now the flip side is that Obama had better not let Romney get away with being able to flip positions so easily. To make that stick in the minds of voters, being clever about it makes it stick so that they don't forget he changed positions with the next news cycle. People aren't dumb, but they sure as hell are too busy with everything else to devote enough attention.

Now Kochman, I'm sorry, but I have to disagree here.

Romney uses his shameless flip-flopping to great advantage. He's whatever he needs to be for his target audience. It's completely unfair to expect a political opponent to just ignore such a huge opening, and it's frankly dishonest of Romney to change his positions so fluidly.

For someone like Romney who only cares about economics it might seem fair game to be completely flippant about issues like abortion, but it's unfair to people, on both sides, who take those issues seriously.

What position does Romney leave a staunch pro-lifer or conservative pro-choicer in? He's been on both sides of the fence quite frequently. Romnesia is a completely fair attack despite the silly delivery.

You said so far that the problem is their current (il)legal status.

Since you've just denied that, I can only deduce that you're simply a xenophobe.

Subjective. Your not hurting my feelings using that label =)

The point was not to hurt your feelings. I'm just telling you that you have named no objective reason why immigrants are bad except that you don't like them. Which is like only your problem.

What race is an illegal immigrant?
By all means - enlighten us all =)
What if you enlighten us first, after all it's you who hijacked this thread? What's bad about immigration? It can't be the illegality, because you objected to making all illegal immigration legal. I'm afraid you haven't given any argument beyond silly Lebensraum nonsense.

Nope =) That is sophistry. YOU are the one calling people names. Not me.
I have nothing to justify. In the USA, not wanting something is allowed.
It is enough.

It is allowed. But just saying you disagree with something because that's your opinion on the matter, doesn't get us very far. I suggest that that is sophistry.

The problem is that everything coming from Romney is a flip flop. And he's not really being called on it. A few minutes ago on he morning news show a Republican strategist was talking about how if the election was based on the debt, economic growth, and the long term future, that would favor Romney. Yet there was a ton of debt and no growth under Bush, and that's Romney's policy. So he's a flip-flop from the start.

Mostly people just showing up uninvited and no one throwing them back out again. Pretty much exactly like the illegal immigrants now.

yeah they showed up uninvited(but this was in the 19th century before communication between continents was so easy) went to Ellis Island and most were accepted, some were turned away. at least they did it by the book. nowadays there are millions who aren't from Mexico who have to go through a costly and timely proccess to live in the USA and it's an insult to their efforts when mexicans swarm over the border.

No really son
