The Thread Where We Discuss Guns and Gun Control

He's kidding. He wouldn't bribe someone just to play with a gun he can't buy. Guns aren't toys.

I'm starting to wonder if my humorous posts have become indistinguishable from my serious ones. If so, is that a success or a failure? Have I become a parody of myself?

CNN, 22 Aug 2019 - "Shooter in 'stand your ground' trial says Markeis McGlockton ran at him. Video shows otherwise."

I wonder if there's a test that could be designed to determine whether a person who wants to own a gun for self-defense is in fact capable of recognizing when they're in danger? Kind of like the road test to get your driver's license, to show basic competency. These guys who've shot people unlawfully were demonstrably incapable of making the determination that they were, in fact, in danger. This guy clearly wasn't, and is likely headed to prison as a result, but that doesn't do McGlockton or his family any good, and it won't help the next person to get shot over something dumb.

Honestly, I took it as serious.

Well, maybe it's my failure to not notice. Your guess.

You're looking at it all wrong. Instead of seeing it as "breaking the law" see it instead as "helping to stimulate the local economy of an impoverished nation." So I am abiding by the law, it's just the law of my own morality rather than the law of the US...or Jamaica...or international law.

Unless given an obvious reason, I take your posts as serious and as written. Your follow up "it was a joke" just makes you look totally disingenuous.

I 100% believe that this is you: "I am abiding by the law, it's just the law of my own morality rather than the law of the US...or Jamaica...or international law."

Most likely all the posts were serious, especially the bribe the guard one, but when called out on it then the humor approach was adopted.

You really are just a miserable person aren't you? It's like you saw that despite having disagreements, other posters and I were still kinda getting along and having a nice light-hearted moment and just had to ruin it. Then again, you do strike me as one of "those people" that feels the need to always "confront" those you disagree with.

Any UK members here that can direct me to where I can petition your government to make a civilian version of the SA80 that can be sold in the US? I hear the design flaws were all fixed in the early 2000s and I've always liked the look of that rifle and would love to own one.

I don't even think the British government likes building SA80s rifles for their own soldiers, let alone to sell to snobby AR-mericans, who will no doubt make rude and mean comments about how the it weighs more than a loaded M1 garand.

There's only one legal way to get an SA80 AFAIK: Find a civilian single shot repeater version of the rifle who on the UK gun market. Buy it and have the owner chop the receiver into three parts and ship it to you. (They might want you to pay for that process). At this point it's legally just a hunk of metal as far as US government is concerned.

Make sure he sends you the hideous barf green grips and handguard...assuming you want that crap on your rifle. And you'll need the trunion too but the rest will have to be tossed.

And finally, find a firearm machinist to weld the receiver back together and then drill and cut it for standard AR-180 parts.

Then you'll have 12lbs of state of the art British weaponry and you can brag to gaming friends about how you own the real life version of the worst gun in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:smug: Their gaping jawed envy alone would be worth the cost.

I see the famous CFC "charitable and good faith argumentation" is alive and well on this page.

That happened a long time ago. It should be regarded as a sign that your positions on guns are regarded by normal people as completely insane.

Afaik getting called out on his ... rather extreme arguments has never given Commodore any pause.
So if he says he was joking, I believe him
