TIL: the difference between butterflies and moths.

Butterflies fly during the day. Moths fly at night.
Butterflies rest with their wings vertical. Moths rest with their wings horizontal.

You're welcome.

Nah, the only kind of moths we have here are small and slim.

Nightswarmers go about in the night

Moths are specifically those that like eat clothes

There are lots of different types of moth, most of which are nocturnal and many of which do not munch on textiles.

Today I learned where/what Guernsey is. Never heard of it before. The man I met from Guernsey told me about Viking Chess & that I should buy a set.

If you're interested, look up why one of the Queen's many titles is specifically Duke of Normandy. :)

Hm. It's incomplete - it doesn't mention his published fiction.

As I recall, that's probably exactly what he would intend.

People use pseudonyms for various reasons. One year I was at a science fiction convention in Calgary and happened to pick up a novel about the Trojan War. The bookseller told me who really wrote it, and that if I wanted it autographed, the author was standing across the room at another table. Since I had already read some SF by this author and knew he wrote good stories, I bought the book and asked him to sign it. When he looked surprised that I knew he'd written it, I mentioned what the bookseller said.

So he explained that the reason for the pseudonym was because he already had a couple of books out around the same time as this one and his agent advised him not to appear to have too many new books out at once - so he wouldn't be in competition with himself.

Regarding Plotinus, I've actually read some of his books, but the wiki entry is new information. Thanks.

TIL that the ‘first Australian ship’ really was manned by convicts, and that they did get to Japan -it is interesting to see, for once, the view of Japanese people on the gai-jin rather than the other way around.

Pseudonym use is nice. Particularly if you invent your own nemesis and have him/her write polemics against you. Not that i ever did that. But there is still time :o

Benjamin Franklin used to do that during his newspaper days. He was known to use a pseudonym to argue with his other pseudonyms.
