To alcohol - The cause of and solution to all life's problems.

Nobody really likes to drink, but people love being drunk.

He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.

I hate being drunk but love drinking.... to the point that I have not had a drink for 12 years 4 months 13 days 10 hours and 45 minutes

I like both drinking and being drunk. I think drinking most alcoholic beverages is rather like drinking coffee, an acquired taste.

Granted, I don't toss 'em back as often as I used to, but in a safe environment with friends where nobody is going to do anything stupid like drive while hammered the lowered social inhibitions and sense of giddiness can be quite, well, intoxicating.

Some alcoholic drinks are good and other are bad; and taste varies a lot. Some stuff just ask for a drink; for instance I don't see how it's possible to eat fondue without drinking white wine, and I don't know how it's possible to eat a barbecue (Brazilian-style churrasco specially) without having a beer.

Being drunk sucks, but before drunkenness there are very happy stages.

Drinking is fun because it's a social activity. Being drunk is fun too, as long as you're not past the threshold.

I have to disagree with you there. I love to drink. A cold glass of beer, a nice red, a gin and tonic, a margarita, hell even a scotch is nice from time to time. Sure being drunk is great, but there are some beverages that transcend the drunken stupor they cause.

Beer, margaritas, and scotch taste like crap. I'm not sure what "a nice red" or "tonic" are, but gin is only good in gimlets or other mixed drinks.

From Christian to Christian (At Classical) Jesus drank wine:p

That stated, I don't drink. I just don't understand why any Christian would have a problem with it (In moderation.)

That's your opinion. But, as I said, I enjoy the taste of all the aforementioned beverages and therefore your statement "Nobody really likes to drink" is rendered moot.

Additionally, by "a nice red" I ostensibly am referring to a red wine, such as a Merlot or a Cabernet or a Pinot Noir. And when I say "Gin and Tonic", I am of course referring to a popular beverage which mixes Gin with Tonic Water, and is usually served with a lime wedge.

Lawbreaker:p

I do know beer is disgusting, having tried the no-alcohol variant. I've never tried wine though (In our church communion is done with grape juice.)

Not all beers are the same. Some are hoppier than others. A Stout is as different from an Ale as, say, Root Beer is from 7UP. I'm not advocating that you should try now (that would be illegal) but when you do legally get to try it, I would recommend you not be so quick to write beer off. It's more a matter of finding your color, and remember, beer usually is an acquired taste, and once you come around to it, it's very rewarding. (Wine is the same, by the way)

Not quite. IIRC Wisconsin has a law that if the parent or guardian buys a drink and gives it to a minor and the minor remains under their supervision, that is legal.

That is like saying pastrami is disgusting because you tried the vegetarian type!
(For the record, I can't stand the taste of alcohol.)

Well, Catholic masses need that little pick-me-up to survive.
