Yeah, it doesn't look egregious from the photos, good chili is still an ugly food.

Aye, doesn't look much less appealing that the pretty tasty chilli I made last night. Still would be kinda dubious about anything from a fast food chain, but don't judge chilli by it's appearance/

A week ago I learned there is a thing called "Wendy's Chili", which is a fast food item in the Wendy's menu.
Apparently this is a type of beef-soup (?). Not a very common idea for a fast food.

It's actually more of a stew than a soup. This is about the only thing on that restaurant's menu that I do like. As chili goes, it's not bad.

Or at least it wasn't, last time I had it. That was over 20 years ago. Tim Hortons added chili to their menu, but I'd no sooner mused about trying it than covid came along and I haven't been to the mall (where the closest Tim's is) in over a year and a half. And since I had to give up Timbits and donuts, it's not worth trying it via Skip the Dishes.

I read that the meat used is just recooked leftovers of previous days. But in the comments (it was at some news site) many people argued that this is fine and part of how such food is prepared outside fast-food places as well.
With so much chili, the taste of the beef isn't likely to be what you'd readily pick up.

I don't know if people have as many opinions on stew as they do on pasta but...

Stew is kind of a leftover based meal. To make it well you want homemade stock, which is the definition of leftovers - inedible bits simmered for hours. A slow cooker really helps with this, since if you let it boil dry it'll stink the house out. The meat for a stew needs to be tough, otherwise it will disintegrate in the stewing. It's an otherwise terrible cut of meat.

A Chilli and a Bolognaise (sorry Sofista) are essentially variants on the stew theme.

I like to add Worcestershire Sauce for the umani, but whateves.

Except they don't have the same texture, ingredients or uses. They're both based on beef and cook for a long time, but it's like saying that both ham and sausage are cured pork. :P

Is not chilli short for chilli con carne?

Sometimes you have to be careful about chili. It's not always what it seems:

This is a filksong from waaaay back. We used to sing it at conventions in the '80s.

You didn't know? It's all over TVTropes.

B-b-but he's in Scarface (1983)!

Meta (former Facebook) might become a more serious player in social media with the name change. As Zardnaar says, the name (other than just sounding dumb) has bad history.

The Angels Glow

at the battle of Shiloh 1862 wounded soldiers lay waiting for help over night, some glowed green. A HS kid visiting the battlefield recently investigated the phenomena and found the soldiers who glowed green may have been infected with bacterium that glows green in the dark. And it appears the soldiers who were infected had a better survival rate - the bacteria exude deterrents to limit the competition, ie other bacteria.
