Tom's Unit Factory

That thing is cool.

Tremendously creative unit, Tom. I'm so impressed. But, I've already had an argument on this point: what does it turn into when it's captured? I say a unit, though I can't tell which one. My brother insists that it's a tree stump, and of course, downloading it and actually looking at it would be 'cheating'. Please help.

I showed the capture animation although I haven't actually seen it in-game yet, but the magical energy disperses, and a vague human form re-appears (made vague and dark purposely), which can then become the actual captured worker, without looking out of whack.

The size of the vague human form was made close to the size of the Firaxis worker. That portion of the animation goes by fairly quick, so it should look just fine in game. I made it a vague form since there are so many workers that are available. Tried to get a one-size fits all.

EDIT: Sorry, I misunderstood; the first animation is all the worker animations put together, does not include the capture animation. Tree growing is 'planting'. Rain clouds is irrigation. Housing framework going up is settle. The appearing road is build road/railroad. Fortress is the stone blocks going onto the stone foundation.

I could have used the electrical arms to do all this (with shovel, throwing seeds, etc) like I did with clear forest/swamp and mine, but figured instead I would have a little fun.

Delta_Strife had a terrific find (Thank You Delta_Strife!). Sid Meiers Pirates! 2004 uses the gamebryo engine; and uses NIF/KF (just like Atlantica Online and Civ 4). The models are high quality and work in a very similar fashion to those of Atlantica Online. In fact, they seem to be good enough, that even leaderheads can be made of them (since they appear to have the appropriate bone structures set up to change facial moods). There is a whole lot of models/animations available there, so it opens up a huge set of Arghhh! Pirate possibilities.

Ship had many parts, I only imported one piece to test it. Lots of people also. 15,109 files in 1 directory. Luckily, the different files seem to be alphabetically 'together'.

Now we just wait for the okay from Firaxis (email sent 5 min ago).

On a more serious note:
Why does Take-Two/2K show this picture after an email is sent?

Which is either a sleeping businessman, or a guy in a casket at a funeral? Doesn't make any sense. Does this mean I am likely to never receive a response?

Tom - you are awesome! I love all your units, especially the animal and beast ones. I've been away for a few months, but I thought I would point out the ones you've posted the past few months that will play major roles in the Modzilla series. A few others may pop up here and there, too.;)

Thanks to you and Supa for making this a VERY merry christmas for this old Kaiju :)

Spacer One and StormRage were early supporters of Modzilla, and I've already announced they are going to be added as units in the game in their memory. This will be StormRage.

Tom, can you conert units made by modders for *spits* civ4?

If I had an avatar unit, it would be the Fire Dragon.

Yea, any Civ 4 unit can be converted to Civ 3. Did you see a beautiful high-quality Civ 4 unit you want?

Civ 4 uses Nif/Kf formats; which 3ds and Blender can import (with plug-in).
Unfortunately it's been pulled off the database.

You know, I would use one of aaglo's Orks for Stormrage.

Is this an offer to convert civ iv units? If so, I will send you a list of units I would like converted along with links to the unit DL location.

can you convert the galley from Civ 5?

Might be able to. I haven't followed along with Civ 5 developments; I don't know if all the Civ 5 tools have been released yet or not (e.g. tool to unencode the DDS files).

Sure, I haven't done anything in a while as I've been working on CoMM3, but go ahead and list them here because I often forget about things in PM's.

I wish you can convert age of empire 3 or strongolds units too.
They are in gr2 format.
You can import gr2 files in 3dsmax with this tool:

or this one:

I remember looking into this some time back, just never got around to it yet. There just isn't enough hours in a day (and sometimes there are too many!)
