Transition lenses

FYI, about the color-blindness: this is supposed to be a good site for converting into color-blind, however, this doesn't seem like machine as he said he sees B&W. Achromatopsia seems closest I would imagine
I can confirm that the default protanopia filter, at least, doesn't change the appearance of CFC for me; so, assuming it does actually change the appearance, it would seem to be a reasonable reproduction of colour-deficient vision.

Soft daily lenses (meant to last a month). They're not super soft like jelly, but they are very soft. It may be because they fit my eyes well, sometimes when I need to take them out I have to fiddle a bit because they won't come out easily. I have never lost one, I can rub my eyes etc, and they never come out if I don't want them to.

I never tried going under water with them... I would, but I don't want to risk losing my month's pair.

Then again, I was considering getting over night oens (where you never take them out for a whole month). That sounds good, but i'm not sure if it would get irritating... might as well give it a try though.

I'm leery of having 24 hour lenses. I like taking them out before I go to sleep, both because it feels a little better without and because I want my eyes to be able to recuperate fully after having a foreign object in all day.

Btw, I use my lenses for longer than they're specified. They last at least two months for me which is a nice way of saving money :)

Yes, that's what I think as well.

...and I often end up doing that, but not out of choice... where I put mine in is quite complicated (not messy, just with my hi-fi, mirrors, trays, boxes, cupboards, bags... all in one corner) so if I drop one (being too "risky" in a dark room in the morning) then I end up having to wear them for a lot longer than i'm meant to. But I get mine delived to my door so it doesn't save me any moeny, sadly.

Ok, I don't think I followed that at all ;)

You sometimes drop them so you have to start a new pair and as a result make that pair last longer? Ok.. Although if it's not dirty where you drop them you can just use cleaning solution to kill bacteria and rinse them very thoroughly with saline water afterwards to remove any specks.

I buy mine from a company in Canada (I think), so I just order a year's worth when I'm low on supplies. It's half price from what I had to pay from the shop here! My biggest expense these days is the cleaning fluid.

Oh, sorry! I kind of forgot to say what I intended to say ;).

If I drop a lense, I can never find it again (there are too many possibilities where it could be... and if I DO find it, it is normally shrivelled up and useless).

Hmmm, I might try getting a longer supply... its probably for the best, but I hate having to go into Specsavers for contacts appoinments when I could get it from another company and just put them in... But then again my vision is still changing so I need the check ups.

Mac, it's very interesting, but I don't really understand how you see the colours.. it sounds like you don't see them at all since you have to guess based on the luminosity, but since you say you can see it somewhat when watching a movie I assume you see some colours very slightly? If that's true, which colours are they? Does it help if they are very saturated? The coca cola red is very saturated so it sounds like you don't see red at all?

It's that shade of red that I cannot see (or at least, it's not a unique shade, but is the same shade in grey-scale as other colours). Sometimes a specific tone will be unique to one color, and if that tone is included (which is tough to explain) I can guess the colour of the object much more easily.

For example, yellow is quite unique. There are only a few types of green that I can mistake for yellow, so whenever I see that group of shades, I assume the object is yellow (and I'm occassionally wrong).

All I can recommend is watching a black and white film, and then see if you can tell what colour various things are. I bet you'd have a reasonable guess for quite a few of them
