Trump is the 5th president in a row to betray the Kurds.
Just kick Turkey out of NATO already.
If that isn't possible, the US should unilaterally quit NATO, start up NATO2 5 minutes later, and invite everyone but Turkey to join the new self-defense club under identical terms.

Also, the turks were american allies before the kurds. Which the kurds, if they had any brains, ought to have considered and acted on. One of the reasons this does not make good news is that everyone was expecting in... except the stupid kurdish leadership. Even after their gamble in Iraq had already failed.
It's kind of infuriating seeing the hove they dug themselves into.

Turkey isn't afraid of France. Or even the USA. About time everyone realized what Turkey is: the sole superpower in this world.
(ie won't surprise me if that happened; a significant part of the turkish population is under the bizarre delusion their country is an actual superpower, so in the army itself it should be nearly all of them...)

We are talking insane here. If the turkish population doesn't wake up, dark days may come fast.
Then again, it is a lot harder to pull a boulder back when you already pushed it to the edge of the cliff, so I don't think there is any return from this.

Kurds apparently want Russia to protect them. I sympathize to them, but I doubt it's a reasonable expectation.

Worth nothing the exasperating short-sightedness of European politicians here. The SDF had been begging to take back several thousands of European IS-fighters and try them in their home countries. European politicians did jack all, disregarding that even without the war going on, a ramshackle statelet might not be the most secure holding location for them. Now odds that some of these guys will soon be causing mayhem on the streets of Europe again. The reaction of the European public, should they have repatriated them, would have been nothing compared to what it will be when a new wave of terror strikes.

So, how long until trump vetos any action against turkey in return for dirt on biden and/or a real-estate deal for a Trump tower in Istanbul or Ankara?
That's why we should be supporting a Kurdish revolution in Turkey. Not only for them to get their own nation, but for them to take over the entirety of Turkey. That way we could get rid of the problematic Turks, but still keep the nation itself in NATO, denying Russia their strategic victory.

It would be something like a Federal Pluralistic Republic of Asia/Anatolia. But it's a fantasy and Commodore was talking out of bad faith.
No one is going to kick the Turks out for a relatively minor conflict in Syria. No one in power cares enough. As soon as some US Christian boy who went to the Kurds but saw them as too leftist and jumped for the Assyrians instead comes back to FOX news, the Republican outcry dries up because 'They're terrorist Reds' and then nothing will happen.
Turkey is the major power in the region; and with this, it'll just keep flexing. Northern Iraq, Northern Syria, Northern Cyprus...if the Azeris get into another shooting match with the Armenians, they might just decide to help them out....
The US isn't going to knock out the TFSA or the TAF. Hell, if anything, the US might be thinking 'Hey, maybe Turkey can drive down to Damascus!' and a whole new phase of the war might be beginning. The guys in Idlib were too Jihadi, but if Turkey is doing it....

However, Syria is the country being invaded, and Russia supposedly doesn't abandon allies the same way as US (and for practical reasons it would be worse off, cause Russia simply doesn't have that many allies or military ties to other countries).*
Kurdistan should form. There are more than 20 million kurds in that region, the majority in eastern Turkey (also in northern Syria and westernmost Iran).
*not really expecting much from Russia, currently.
