The failiure to expand by the liberal party has lead to a major change. A new power is rising, the militarist party. They belive that military expansion is the best solution and that the faliure to raise an army is primarily political. The socialist peoples party is also gaining power as the liberal party flounders off the political stage. I have dedicated one third of our treasury to this problem- with these funds, you are to send teams of Mormon missionaries to the Caudillo encampments, and convert their leaders. The Caudillos control great swathes of the North of Old Mexico, and gaining their loyalty would not only provide a great boon to our economy as the raids halt, it would also bring us closer to our eventual goal of controlling all of Central America north of Honduras & El Salvador.
Finally, Joel, you are to send large numbers of diplomats & missionaries to the independent Kingdoms in Cascadia, Wyoming, & Montana. Control of Cascadia would provide a stepping stone from which we could expand the influence of Deseret in Canada, while the old states of Montana & Wyoming would bring the remainder of the American Rocky Mountains under Deseret’s control- the vast mineral wealth contained in the peaks & foothills of the mountains would be a great asset to Deseret.
