Ugliest and Most Beautiful Cities?

Prettiest: Paris, Vienna, Prague, Barcelona, Nice (France), Amsterdam, Budapest, Rovinj (Croatia, it's more a town than a city though), Madrid.

Ugliest: Udine and Gorizia (Italy).

I think Paris and Vienna have the highest number of beautiful buildings. Not just palaces and churches, but ordinary mixed use buildings, mostly built in the 2nd half of the 19th century.

I think it's likely a new subdivision. You can tell when the land has recently been raped to make one.

You can tell by the lack of trees that that is a gated community (right word? idk). I hate them, they're really ugly.

More like a breeder community. New clearings to make room for those who escape the older areas and cities to pop out the new families.

The lack of plantlife in these areas has been somewhat disturbing to those I've visited. But, maybe in 40 years....

Gary, Indiana is possibly the most wretched place in the developed world.

The most beautiful city I have been to would be either Paris, or Savannah, Georgia.

A couple of Portuguese buildings in an ugly concrete block is nice?

Why not just say Lisbon is pretty nice...

Because I haven't been to Portugal. And those were the best photos I had.

In the world of bad taste, I'd like to nominate Rockhampton: the Venice of Queensland.

The most recently uploaded Wikipedia image of Tianjin struck me as strikingly beautiful. Haven't been there, so can't say if the city's really like that, but you can get an idea here.

As far as Chinese cities go it does seem like one of the better ones.

I can't really decide on prettiest ones, but for ugliest I have an easy candidate. The rotten hellhole that is Charleroi.

Nice: London, Paris, Vienna, Old Boston, Parts of NYC, Hong Kong.

Blech: Detroit, Parts of NYC, Karachi, Cherleroi.

I'd have to disagree with this. KL is certainly a place of contrasts - it has very good and very bad like most places - but overall it's not ugly.

At first, the KL city planners made a mistake when chopped down the jungle for the ever expanding city. But when it got to the 80s, they realized their mistake. So they planted trees along the streets to make it look good. The problem with that was the buildings were close together and the tree roots could cause damage, but the local government took out insurance to cover that! So now you have the best of both worlds: village atmosphere because of close buildings, and garden feel with all the trees.

Besides, Kuala Lumpur International Airport is one of my favorites of anywhere in the world. And the people are friendly. :)

its messy and dirty. but then, the same can be said of Bangkok...

Kuala Lumpur has more smokers thou... so i will fault them for that too...

Potian in malaysia is even uglier. but i will focus mainly on Major City.

Would anyone like some American Dream???

Spoiler :
:shakes head in bewilderment and despair:
Isn't the point of having your own house to have some, you know, privacy? This approach combines the worst sides of apartment buildings and private houses without the benefits of either, imho.

Most suburban neighborhoods don't really look like that. I mean the houses do but there's more space in between or at least a proper backyard and some trees.

Yeah, that's some place very crowded. Much more so than most American suburbs. Note that many of those houses are duplexes.
