UN/Diplomacy Planning Thread

Cuba will vote for ArneHD,

-Cuba

Bah! The US is clearly more willing to work with terrorist rouge nations than with developing countries. Other delegates, take note!!!
There was hardly any work done with N. Korea. It was simply a matter of principles. How about I say Grady Sizemore is swell....for a guy.
The vote count to date.

Somaliland rejects the spelling of the country as "Somaililand" and asks for a revision, and also the US ambassador's opinion of Somaliland's status in the UN.

Even though no country or organization recognizes Somaililand the United States official stance is why not considering there's only 15 voters in the United Posters of Civfanatics.

Somaliland officially votes for the American Ambassador then. Whomp needs only two more votes to assure a majority in the voting process.

North Korea opposes the revision of the spelling of Somaliland.

Russia supports the allowance of nations to self-determinacy (name and nationhood).

And, note, I will not change Russia to "The Czar Scipian's Land of Amazons".

Actually, i'm in a bind.

From the CFC perspective, Whomp obviously would make a great choice to be in charge of anything.

From a mock UN perspective, as Brazil, I think that I ought to oppose US domination of this international institution, and support nations that are more likely to support my agenda...which would be Norway.

I don't know which conditional set to weigh more. I dont think I know enough about the game

Matt thanks for the compliment however I think you should weigh your decision based on what's best for Brazil.

What will be interesting in this exercise is some people will have to get out of their comfort zone and do what's best for their (adopted) nation. The most important part of this is to learn how to be persuasive, compromise and become empathetic regarding the issues that impact your (adopted) country.

I think one way we could turn this into a game (of power) is allowing the new Secretary General develop a new rule or eliminate a rule. This will create some interesting tension between countries. I still think the Secretary General should set the agenda on what to discuss for 2 or 3 topics.

I really like that idea Whomp it would really up the bid on how people produce there arguments.

In that case, although it is tempting to see if I can get Whomp to also rave about Travis Hafner, I'm going to have to go with Norway. A US/Pro Multinational Business agenda could not be advantagous to the millions of poor citizens whom I represent, who could be exploited, at least not in the near future. (In real life, I imagine that there would be public pressure on me to pursue poplist-like programs)

Hey, if America is going to recognize our country (a stable democracy) into the UN when no country did before, there's no reason America shouldn't have Somaliland's vote.

I'm going for the US both personally and politically. Whomp seems like the natural choice in real life. And I'd much rather a pro-business, anti-EU power than a nation like Norway who is a potential rival for influence in the Eastern Europe and also tries to prevent me from gaining too much power. Go USA! (and Russia)

The current vote count isn't final i guess, just a way to keep track of the offical stance that the country has selected?

Yeah, but I don't know exactly when we'll make the final decision.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since this is a good time to question (and perhaps influence) our may-be leader I suppose I'll ask US representative Whomp a couple questions on issues important to Russia.

What is your policy on enabling such countries as Israel, Spain, and Russia to attack the terrorists within?

What is your policy on allowing nations to sell arms and munitions to rogue or dangerous nations?

What is your policy on tariffs?

If your policies are not concreted yet, have no qualms about telling me so.

-RUSSIA

Hopefully when we get all the votes in, and everyone finalizes there vote.

Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia still thinks that there is needed larger program with money spending to all sections of people living. We have some dubieties how effective should be created new bueraucracy and enforced pressure in states. But in the end Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia vote in favour of American proposal.

Redy, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

What is your policy on enabling such countries as Israel, Spain, and Russia to attack the terrorists within?
An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last. --Winston Churchill
We will not stand for acts of terror.
What is your policy on allowing nations to sell arms and munitions to rogue or dangerous nations?
You may want to ask our ambassador from North Korea why he changed his vote based on our recent dialogue.
What is your policy on tariffs?
We are for free trade and open markets.

May I ask the fine gentleman from Russia his stance on the same topics?
Whomp of the USA

The Islamic Republic of Iran
feels that the US candidate for Secretary General would unfairly prejudice the proceedings of the UN against Iran's national interests, and must, as such
vote for the Norwegian candidate, ArneHD, for SG
