Unit Discussion/Previews

I would go with the Lascannons as every Venerable equipped with Plasma cannons seems a bit daft :)

Well, I already started making the plasma weapon before I saw your post, Quinzy.

If this looks just silly, I could put it on a chaos dread instead ... because that plasma blaster is a bit chaotic in nature :)

What do you think of this? Suggestions are welcome :)

Hey, that doesn't look that daft after all! :D Infact it looks great!

Perhaps whiten up those purity seals so they stand out a bit better? :)

Looks great! Your work is top notch! (as always).... I was a little worried when Quinzy said it would be daft. But you pulled it off.

Aalgo, have you considered putting a shield on the right shoulder panel and maybe some gernade toobs on top? Or I've seen some with the sighting senors on the leftside with a search light on top? Just thowing some ideas ur way. The model already looks good, and its clean and not cluttered so.....
Just some ideas.

I'm not sure what you mean with the shield and gernades (do you mean smoke launchers like in the furioso?)... could you show an image of them? But I understood about the sighting tool and whiter parchments on the purity seals - like this.

Example of the search light. Yes I did mean the smoke launchers.

The shield probably wouldn't work it's more of a Balck Templars theme, or Grey Knight.

Yeah, a shield wouldn`t work well with a Space Wolf Vendread. Unless its a viking shield :crazyeye:

Anyhoo, I love what you did with the thing, I think its ready to be used. The only thing I would suggest is making it in full Civ-color so we can use this unit as a generic VenDread in scenarios etc.

Hmmm... fully civ coloured.

I think I could do that - but with one "ill" - I'll have to work a bit with the purity shields - that red mixed with blue spells disaster :)

But Maybe I'll just but a brown ring around the red seal... or something like that.

Here's a preview of the civ-coloured venerable.

Its awesome! You are awesome! Plasma coils shine bright blue (altho some insist that its green), can you make that special effect?

Since blue is civ-colour, I'm thinking: no, I think I can't make them shine bright blue. I could try somethign cyan though.

Couldn't you just make another civ colour than blue? Any colour can be used, it's just a matter of pallette.

Perhaps ave green as the civcolour, that'll leave blue available for the plasma coils :)

The most useful civ-colours are blue, cyan and red - others tend to be used a lot in other parts of the unit. Like in this unit:
- yellow is out of the question, because of lot of the golden colours used.
- blue is out of the question, because the plasma coil colour gets mixed up with the civ-colour
- green is out of the question, because that's one of the transparency colours
- red is out of the question, because it does not work well with blue. Really.
- cyan is in the borderline of usable, because it's closely related to blue.
- I really wouldn't go on using any mixed colours, because they are very hard to keep in check.

And palette-magic is a bit difficult to do, since I render these units as whole - I cannot determine the exact palette colours on units, since pigment textures of the unit may have strange effects. So I cannot pre-determine certain areas to use colours only from certain palettes.

So screw you very much :p - it seems like this plasma is going to be glowing yellow :p

What about just having a civ coloured blast. Wouldn't that be kinda cool?

I think that while the civ-coloured blast could look cool, it propably would not that much - according to my experiences, transparencies with civ-colour are impossible (since I always use transparencies in my blasts). Besides, darker civ-colours could look ugly. :)

Well, this is the best I could do right now - cyan glow :) .
