Unit requests thread

This may sound strange but...
The guy in the CFC logo, could someone make him? Preferably with infantry or marine animations.

Do you mean Santa Claus or the Snowman ?
Why do we still have that Chtistmas interface anyway ? Or is it just me ?

So you mean the swordsman... But why on Infantry/Marine animations ? (as in ranged, firing a gun...)

I just had an idea for a rather different unit. Is it really that unusual?
And preferably on the infantry animations, but marine is fine.

I'd just like to request a unique unit for the Apache civ for CivGold. Anything really. I don't know a whole lot about Apache warrior traditions... all I know is from the time of Geronimo. Maybe a cavalry like unit or something? A Chiricahua Band, maybe?

It seems that while people have made an Apache civ in creation and customization, no one has made a UU for them! They are stripped bare and at a disadvantage.

I want some Great People as flavor units. Somebody could do a few, maybe.

Its funny you ask this, because I am making an Apache module and I was wondering what their UU should be. I'll make that the UU then. Thanks for the idea.

Since I am doing a full flavor set for the Apache I started making units. And since a lot of Apache were US scouts (and some raided US supply lines, stealing uniforms and weapons that they used against the US) I made a rifleman wearing a US Army jacket.

I also read about the Chiricahua Band on Wikipedia and found out they started out/were US scouts and were also/later US enemies. So I figured this unit might work and I will probably use this as the UU for the Apache in my Apache module as the Chiricahua Band. Thanks for the idea.

I won't release this until my module comes out though, so if you like it you'll have to wait a little while.

This isn't so much a request for a unit, as it is a request for some help/advice on making a unit. I am nothing close to a good unit maker, but I do know how to use NifSkope and I am trying to put together an Apache unit set for an Apache module I am working on.

I am basically making the Apache medieval units and I was going to make the Maceman unit look something like this:

5944s.jpg

I can do everything EXCEPT that hat/fur thing on top of his head. I just wanted to ask anyone if they can think of an easy way to do this. Or can think of a unit that has a part that I can use to emulate that look. Any ideas?

The only one which comes to my mind is Polycrates Zulu knight and longbowman. Maybe it is something you can use.

Why don't you try the hat from the Russian Cosac UU.
If you are using max, there is a modifier named ripple.
I think that if you squashed the hat, and applied that modifier, you should get something good.

I don't have that. My skills are extremely limited when it comes to making units, all I am really capable of are moving things around, or copying and pasting items, in nifskope. So while that might be a good suggestion, I am probably incapable of pulling it off.

EDIT: Sorry to hijack this thread, I'll stop after this, but I thought it'd be appropriate to let everyone know I found a part that was useable (I used a part of Aranor's classical swordsman redux) and used it. I just wanted to post the image and get everyone's opinion on whether or not you think this would make a good Apache Maceman. I hope you think it would, because it took me forever to make this. Plus it would suck if I had to go back and make another one. Although if it DOESN'T look like a good Apache maceman I'd rather you told me and forced me to remake it than didn't and let me use a horsehockey unit. Anyway here it is.

So yeah, let me know what you guys think. Don't worry about the face, it won't look like that in-game. For an idea as to how the face will look, check out the Apache Rifleman I posted above and visualize some war-paint.

Capo, you are very modest. I think your work is impressive! :goodjob: I also like the idea of using the war paint from the first picture on the unit in the 2nd. The first picture looks good. It does have some cherokee resemblence to it though. I guess the thing to keep in mind when doing the Apache is that they were mountain/desert people. Keep thinking of Arizona and New Mexico, it's climate, and their surroundings. I guess that's the reason they never wore alot of heavy headress like the Sioux, because it was just too hot. Maybe a bandanna with a eagle feather is the standard. Even if it's ethnically inaccurate (I don't know), I still think the first picture looks great.

I was wondering, has anyone made a ninja unit? If not, then I'd like to request that too. The great spy icon has triggered this request. :D

I like it, looking forward to your native american units, there still is a need for some of the latter ones out there imo ;)

The ancient great spy looks kind of like a ninja; you could use that and adapt it to some combat animation (say the jaguar). Even unadapted, he still attacks with some martial arts moves. I'm using the unadapted version as an Assassin unit.

I forget where, but there is the great spy unit using the samurai's animations in one of the Japanese custom unit graphics packs on this site. I hope I'm not remembering from before the hack though.
