(do not use the extra shader texture option if you export units, even it was not the problem (also without skinPartition if you don´t want a shader model), the problem was that you mixed the textures - teamcolour.bmp must be base, the texture must be decal0)

Hey everyone, I am back again with another plea for someone to help me fix up my mistake. Yet again I have no idea what the problem is.

I was making these flavored Naval Units for my mod's American Civ. I actually was hoping to release them tonight or tomorrow morning in celebration of Independence Day, but I seem to have screwed something up yet again. :rolleyes:

These are simple reskins of existing units, two of them are the vanilla units from Civ4 (SOTL and Frigate) and one, I don't exactly remember where I found it but they were alternate Galleons for, I believe France Spain and England. They are in the database in the Renaissance section I believe. Anyway I reskinned them and plugged them into the game, and everytime the Galleon gets selected there is this pop-up message saying something is screwed up. I can't seem to figure out what it is. I used tga format instead of dds for the texturing so that may have something to do with it, although as you can see from the screen-shot of the pop-up the texture does show up. If you look just above the pop-up window that sail and flag there is the Galleon. I have posted the pop-up, a screen shot of the units in NifSkope (so you can let me know what you think) and a rar with the three ships. Hopefully someone can help me, and if you are American and are able to do this you should help me fix these up for the 4th of July! Do it for Uncle Sam!

I also figure those flavored-unit mods out there could use a little more American flavor in them anyway.
 
Uh, i know the error, but in my mod it typically occurrs right before a crash (a half second before it...or so).

Yeah, the game doesn't crash but there is an endless barrage of these messages. So in effect it does crash because you can't keep up with them by clicking on them. I just wanted to know if it was something I did (like XML or something) or if there is something wrong with the unit. Its probably the XML because the unit shows up in the game. The pop up only occurs when the unit (in this case the American Galleon I made) is clicked. So its PROBABLY the XML or something. I can give it a look but I'll be busy pretty much all weekend.

I posted the units in case there was a problem with the unit itself though, so if someone wanted to test them out. Maybe someone with a flavored-unit mod for instance, that would be awesome. At least that way I know whether or not it is an XML problem or a unit problem.

The textures look alright though right? The Don't Tread on Me thing kinda looks weird, but it was their Revolutionary Motto so I figured it was appropriate considering tomorrow is the 4th of July.
 
TheCapo: I took a look at you ships they all seem to work for me. I did fix a few minor things with them. On the frigate and the SOTL, I fixed the no shader versions so that they would show your USA texture. And then I changed both their textures to DDS. I dont know anything about TGA,like if it handles alpha, but you had blocked out or flattened the alpha in it so that the nets/shrouds on the side werent see through. So I converted them, I dont think that was your problem as Ive seen other units with TGA.

The Galleon seems fine. I did triangulate some of the strips but still its sitting at 6000 polys. And I attatched the top flag to the mast because it wasnt swaying in sync with the boat. I didnt do anything with the galleon textures as there are a crapton of meshes and it seemed to work fine regardless. I have no idea what that error message is. Ithought I hade made every XML error possible.

A few suggestions: The tread on me looks really cool but a little dark. Maybe you could brighten it? If you want more detail on the flags for the frigate and SOTL, maybe you could alpha those out, and then attatch the flag from the galleon to them. Also you could maybe color the frigate or SOTL to look more like "Old Ironsides". Regardless of all that, they look really cool, and will be using them. Happy 4th, and long live the revolution!

EDIT: I forgot, after I attached the galleon flag to its mast i didnt test it in game. So you might want to look into that to see if its not doing crazy stuff.

Indeed. I was hoping to have these released before today, but apparently I couldn't handle it. I'll take a look at these new files in game and if they work I'll try and post them before I go.

EDIT: I can try to edit the SOTL's hull to look more like the USS Constitution but there is an issue. For whatever reason when I use DXTBmp to make my dds textures they don't show up in NifSkope, I haven't tried it in game but I'm worried that it won't work, which is why I used the TGA to begin with. I'll see what I can do though, as far as I know the hull was black/dark green with white on top right?

EDIT 2: Yeah, it is black and white.
 
I would love if someone had some re-skinned Infantry / marines with white / light grey uniforms, as I am trying to implement the Civ2 "Alpine Troops" in my BTS mod.
 
I would like to request crocodiles, gators and snakes (specifically anacondas)

also a fanboat (both with and without fan if possible)

I'm only attaching one pic of croc/gator as they are close enough that at civ scale they'll be indistinguishable

Hey guys I have a request for a Super Mutant Unit. They are about 1 and a half times the size of a normal human. I attacched a zip with a few pics, if any would like the challenge but needs some more info let me know. Also if you could make a few variants e.g. one with a minigun, one with some kind of rocket launcher, one with a plasma gun(like the area 51 unit), one with a heavy machine gun (single barrel 50.cal type), one with a melee(maybe a big hammer) that would be awesome!
