Unit requests thread

@Glaeder: possible anyone with blender could ad the griffon wngs to the basilisk unit. It would take him 5 minutes. You just had to work the wings_sword.dds skinn.

But I don't know how to do this.
I'm affraid I'mat a los with blender. It doesen't seem to work for me.:badcomp:

Can anyone make this unit?:

It's Julius Caesar "king" unit from Civ III. He should have 0 strenght and 1 movement and of course he should be alone, like great persons (not three units like normal units). Oh, and his cloak should be purple ;)

I reaaly need it, because I play only as Romans and decided that I won't start a new game without such unit :D

Hello!

I've made a small reskin for a French fusilier and thought it would be nice to give the unit a grenadier's or rifleman's backpack. If you decide to upload the unit into the library, just don't forget to give me some credits. Thanks!

*Please forgive me if you think there are juste too many Napoleonic era units around. I just love making those.

Here's what the unit looks like:

And here's the unit files:

And why do you not do that yourself ;)?

Because I would like it to have a back pack first. I do have Nif Skope, but can't get the units to work in Civ IV if I modify something else than the .dds files.

I also want to truely finish the skin before updating. But yes, if you just send me the file with the back pack added to the unit, I will upload it myself.

:)

I am requesting that somebody make a few Arab units for me. Basically what I'd like is Bernie's Egyptian Rifleman but as a Musketman and Cuirassier (if that makes sense). Then if it wouldn't be too much trouble I'd like for the head from the Arab/Palestinain Marine that's out there to be this unit to be on these units.

I'll try to find a link to the Marine, but I can't find it.

I could do those.

Are you talking about this arab marine?

And on all the German Industrial units?

I actually have another request if anyone wants to take it up. I need an arab Knight, an Axeman and a Chariot. I have enclosed a few files that can be used to make it easier. Basically for the Knight I'd just like the head from the GG unit to be placed on the Cataphract unit, that's it (I couldn't get the GG into Blender, otherwise I wouldn't have asked). The other one might be a bit more complicated. I was wondering if anyone could turn this archer unit (enclased in the files) into an axeman and a chariot. If not that's okay, but I'd REALLY like to get that knight unit made. Thanks. :goodjob:

EDIT: For the axeman I don't care about the anims, although Sumerian Vulture animations would be preferred. The weapon is also up to the artist, I don't care about that much either.

I saw some footage and a photo from 1944 of a Spitfire with mk XIV(?) with US markings, it apears to be dark blue but the its in black and white so I'm just guessing.

I have an other request. Can someone give an explorer's sword to a french musketeer model?

Or if you can send me to a tutorial of how to add easy editable polys (like a sword or a new head) to a unit with Nif Skope AND make the unit work in Civ IV, that would be very kind. I really want to make new units without having to come here each time I want to modify something else than the skin.

PS: This is the in-progress reskin of a musketeer:

Do you want to just attach the sword to the model or should it also use the explorer animation?
For NifSkope these tutorials might help:

For getting the unit into your game, this tutorial should do:

And for the musketeer unit, I've put both variations that I've patched together with nifscope in the attachment (hope they work in Civ4, haven't tested it).

For the musketeer that uses the explorer animation I've replaced the NiTexturingProperty, NiTriShapeData and NiSkinInstance entry in the French_Musketeer_body NiTriShape node (51) with the ones of the Explorer_Body (51) node. In the NiSkinInstance all entries with Bip01 ... had to be renamed to BIP ... for this to work.
For the musketeer with the sword attached I've copied the whole sword NiTriShape node from the explorer (can be found by left clicking on the sword) and paste it in the Bip01 Pelvis NiNode of the musketeer. The rest is adusting the position of the sword with the menu that appears after right click on the sword - Transform - Edit. For both units to be fully textured the .dds files of both the musketeer and the explorer must be in the units directory.
Hope this helps in some way and that the units work right. :)

There is a way to put them both on the same model (ie; it shoots at range but uses the sword up close). I'll dig it out if you're interested.
