Right on, I love these super-early era units!

By the way, I recently purchased the Osprey "Myceneans" book, and have an old scanner, so if you want reference pics of Angus McBride's vision of the Myceneans (and their 'barbarian' enemies), just let me know.

    Thanks guys!

@Mithadan: So did I! I've also purchased books from them on the Thracians, Aztecs, Steppes, and a generic one on the Middle East. And I have more coming, so I should have plenty of ideas for units

EDIT: Keroro, when did I leave?

    Back to unit-making? :)

Its great, thanks! I think he will really fit with the Firaxis Warrior and Archer :)
Oh, can you please change the hair to the style Plotinus used for his Germanic Worker?

If you want to know, that's Female Hair 1 in the Poser 4 hair library. You have to stretch and squash it a bit to fit.

As Stormy says - back to unit making. You wouldn't ever leave us would you?

If you have any Thracian units planned I would be very interested, ;) and if you need any feedback let me know.

    Also, feather. Good or bad?

    Hair like that :)

I think the feather is a nice touch.

Should I get on to animating then? Or are there any final adjustments you want?

I have to say I quite like the idea of fur boots too. You'd probably want to increase the scale so they look big and impressive. But I wonder if the unit would look simply too primitive if he were wearing all fur like that.

    Otherwise, it looks really good.

Me neither, now I've looked around... Although apparently, they do exist!

    EDIT: Crosspost

Well, here they both are, one with fur boots, the other without. I could always make the fur boots civ-coloured, or use that white fur Plotinus provided, that I haven't used yet, too!

EDIT: Updated with Grey fur on top of the boots+Textured shield.

EDIT2: Ha! The images keep getting smaller as I go along!

I have to say that the one with grey trim to his boots looks awesome, and really distinctive.

I have to agree with Plotinus, and humbly request that you animate that guy :)

I know those Forums are somewhere out there, I have visited them before! Now that I finally understand those bloody numbers, I can`t find them.. :cringe:

The fur boots with the grey topping do look really cool, but I also really liked the original "sandal + calf-covering" combo too, because it seemed more versatile. Less northern, I guess. But no matter.
Sweet, the Thracian and Steppe Archer ones are on my list too. I'm super pumped, I hope you have fun making all these sweet archaic units!

Sorry for kinda threadjacking, but I figured you might want to know:

I`m really glad you overcame your UVmapper problem, cos the shield now looks much much better too :)

I didn't use the UV mapper. I found that if I want the whole object covered, there's a simpler way (just make a 2D image map node, and select the file that you want)!

OK, I'm going to preview all the animations here as I do them, so people can nit pick, etc., because I'm going to use these animations for all my other Spearmen after this unit, too (although special units won't).
