Virote's Unit Previews

Right on, I love these super-early era units!

By the way, I recently purchased the Osprey "Myceneans" book, and have an old scanner, so if you want reference pics of Angus McBride's vision of the Myceneans (and their 'barbarian' enemies), just let me know.

Thanks guys!

@Mithadan: So did I! I've also purchased books from them on the Thracians, Aztecs, Steppes, and a generic one on the Middle East. And I have more coming, so I should have plenty of ideas for units

EDIT: Keroro, when did I leave?

As Stormy says - back to unit making. You wouldn't ever leave us would you?

If you have any Thracian units planned I would be very interested, ;) and if you need any feedback let me know.

Aye. . I second this. The Thracian Peltast would be most welcome ;)

Hair like this?

Also, feather. Good or bad?

I have to say I quite like the idea of fur boots too. You'd probably want to increase the scale so they look big and impressive. But I wonder if the unit would look simply too primitive if he were wearing all fur like that.

Otherwise, it looks really good.

Well, here they both are, one with fur boots, the other without. I could always make the fur boots civ-coloured, or use that white fur Plotinus provided, that I haven't used yet, too!

EDIT: Updated with Grey fur on top of the boots+Textured shield.

EDIT2: Ha! The images keep getting smaller as I go along!

The fur boots with the grey topping do look really cool, but I also really liked the original "sandal + calf-covering" combo too, because it seemed more versatile. Less northern, I guess. But no matter.
I've also purchased books from them on the Thracians, Aztecs, Steppes, and a generic one on the Middle East. And I have more coming, so I should have plenty of ideas for units
Sweet, the Thracian and Steppe Archer ones are on my list too. I'm super pumped, I hope you have fun making all these sweet archaic units!

Sorry for kinda threadjacking, but I figured you might want to know:

Games Workshop Forums Announcement

Games Workshop forums will be closing on Wednesday November 15. Over the last few years there has been an explosion in the number and variety of forums devoted to the Games Workshop Hobby. These range from the huge forums covering the whole Hobby to small, focussed boards dedicated to a single army. If you want to meet and chat with other hobbyists online, we recommend that you check out a variety of these forums to find one (or more!) that suits your needs. A huge selection can be found by using any of the big internet search engines. We recommend typing in the name of your favourite game (40k, WH etc), army (Eldar, Empire etc) or aspect of the hobby (GW gaming, GW painting etc) and apend ‘forum’ to the end.

We’d like to say a big thank-you to all the people who have posted on (or even just read) our forums and our special thanks go to all the volunteers who over the years have helped moderate our forums. If you need personal hobby advice, please call our hobby advisors on 0115 91 40000 or visit your nearest Games Workshop store.

I`m really glad you overcame your UVmapper problem, cos the shield now looks much much better too :)

I didn't use the UV mapper. I found that if I want the whole object covered, there's a simpler way (just make a 2D image map node, and select the file that you want)!

OK, I'm going to preview all the animations here as I do them, so people can nit pick, etc., because I'm going to use these animations for all my other Spearmen after this unit, too (although special units won't).
