VQ07 - Snakes on Pangea!!

GreyFox said:
Right, its already a won game (like 50 turns ago, when Mao was assimilated).

It's all about Beijing :) We had no good production sites, but our commerce was decent with TGL(house) & Colossus. Once we got Beijing, we had a site to build Taj & pump out Cossacks at an ungodly rate. Since it's Prince, we knew we'd get Liberalism->Nationalism first. Whichever turnset I ended with troops knocking on that city's door, I knew we had it in the bag. :)

So, the fastest win I think is to go domination or conquest. So, gobble all!!!!

I think you're right. We have enough Cossacks to gobble it all up :)

GreyFox said:
But then again, now that its a won game, we could afford to be a bit more passionate, and keep Hatty alive as a concubine :D

I wouldn't mind that ;) We've got a beef with Nappy already... and we can find some reason to declare on the German...

And I'm still in Shanghai. Hrmrphf.

Oops, I thought you might have died because I didn't see you around. I remember seeing bobrath in one of the chinese cities.

 As for the more generals than troops, I'm not in the armed forces or no so much about them so I don't know how many generals they are supposed to be so I decided to call all the named ones generals ;)

I agree this game is pretty much won. I didn't analyze it but I think if we declare on Germany we could get the 64% land assimilating their empire. If not, the small french land should be enough.

After the short journey, General Eektor and GreyFox captured and kept Nara.
:wallbash: :gripe:

Why, just why? I can't tell from the screenshot, but what does the newest Nara bring to the empire besides taking up valuable tiles from superior cities?

My next variant will include a rule: If a city is named Nara it must be razed!

I agree on domination, and let's kick that Nappy in the behind.

Meanwhile back in Tokyo Gen. Cosmichail sends gold off to his Swiss bank account whilst Eektor isn't looking.

For bobrath' sake: Let's make a VQ game with two civs ... Toku and someone else. VQ will play the someone else and the AI will play Toku. And the very moment he settles Nara we'll have to declare on him and raze it. Because his next settlement will most likely be ... Nara. So we'll have to raze it. Maybe we can sue for peace after that ... :mischief: ... well at least if he didn't settle Nara again.
Variant rule: The only city we are allowed to attack and MUST raze is Nara! Any comments?

Hey we got to be silly once in a while. Ok is it me, but I can't see any snakes anymore not that I saw any in the first place. Are they hiding and where are the heads and tails now. Here's a variant snakes and ladders now there's a game I really loved. NOT

We should have 4 snakes at this point:
Original
Mao's Snake
Ghandi's Snake
Tokugowa's Snake

Since the last time I played we only had ours and Maos... well I can hope someone labelled the heads correctly!

Ok, so war horns sounded twice during my turnset and only one of them was initiated by me.

Starting up my turns, and Tokugowa is falling down like a ..... thing that falls down easily.
japanom6.jpg

It cost me one cannon each. I kept Osaka and raized Nagoya. The only problem was I had to hurry since in that same turn Hatty decides to jump all over Tokugowa and right away raizes Cologne (saving me the trouble). The race was on for Edo!

(along the way, I start the SoL and Leo kicks in some hammers to help out)

Hatty won the race and raized Edo to the ground. I built a settler and in my last turn founded New Edo on the ruins of the previous city :goodjob:

Rifling came in and I kicked research into Steam Power (will finish next turn).

Napoleon is making funny noises in the corner so I ask him to spare his 310g.... and he does!!! (it wasn't a demand) Hmmm. With Tokugowa wiped out (but not by us dagnabit) someone else will be up. I decide to take a short tour through the french lands. Two turns later the following happens:

francetz0.jpg

With no loses I might add! It was all cossaks all the time. Cannons never had a chance to catch up. Oh I did return munich back to Freddie - it extended his borders for faster passage. Raized all the rest.

Napoleon is down to three cities. Here's the fun coming up for the next player:

BTW, I just wanted to point out that even the "fine" citizens of Nara know they don't belong:
civ4screenshot0003xk6.jpg

Too bad I removed the french influence (and yes I actually considered leaving Marseilles just to get Nara to flip so I could raize it later!)

Hatty has rifling (but still no democracy). Oh and this funny looking statue showed up in Beijing:
civ4screenshot0008ua6.jpg

Beijing is working on Westpoint and the Forbidden Palace is going up in... the city southeast of Nara.

Here's Napoleon's last holdout:
civ4screenshot0012xz3.jpg

It will be hard for us to reach having only caravels, so we might consider asking Hatty (who has galleons) to do our dirty work for us. Napoleon's other city has a bit of defense... but its land based next to Paris and will be chump change for our forces.

We can take Freddie out easily next, Hatty will be a bit tougher, but we've got two large armies on her borders one at New Edo and one that you can see outside of Paris. They can both go either way (german or egyptian). I'll leave that up to the next player and the group.

Oh on a snakey note... Our French snake head has been chopped since I returned it (munich) to German control. I'm fairly certain that New Edo is totally out of variant rules, but as the variant creator.... I'll let it pass since... umm... Hatty didn't get the memo that we intended to keep it and by raizing it incurred the... snake override loophole. Or something like that! :p

Here's the save

 or could it be you forgot?

Good job though. Do you remember what percentage is our land right now?

I stopped looking at the percentages - in my mind conquest was the only valid option. We can't win by domination unless we take a chunk out of Hatty. No one liked Napoleon, so it was an easy target to take out without incurring any negatives (and thus needing defenders sooner then necessary). Hatty like Freddie, but he's annoyed with her, so we could safely attack her next - but that will be the tougher egg to crack - esp since she has rifling now. Means our cossak army is going to take some dings soon.

I left it pretty open for the next player: GreyFox can easily take out the last vestige of Napoleon on the contienent and then pick which AI to trounce next. Freddie will be a pushover as well, but Hatty might not like it. Hatty will be tougher, but Freddie might even "help out".

Regardless, lets try to get Hatty to take Napoleon off that small island so that we never have to deal with sending snakes on ships!

Hatty only has 26% of the land, meaning if we killed everyone else we'd be over the limit with a full 10% to spare. :) So we don't need to attack her.

We will have some space to fill on the continent, though - if the Munich snake still counts as a "head", we can settle 3NW-N of it. :)

Or, we can leave Napoleon exiled on Elba and go for Domination. How much trouble could he cause? :)

The only problem would be "Return to the Motherhood" anger we may have with former french cities...

Now I understand why I didn't see any Lyons, Marsellies, Orleans, and why Munich goes back to German. Because bobrath wants to go conquest.

But I think Domination is easier. We could achieve domination with Freddie alone. So we need not fight Hatty.

Here is the how much we need:

Towards that end, I kept both cities of french:

vq07-AD1812-capture-Rhemis.jpg

With Tours totally isolated, I bride Hatty into a war:

And end of my turns, no more nappy! (that explains my spoiler, I think bobrath got it: "sleeping in the afternoon" == "nap").

In some other news, we have coal:

vq07-AD1802-coal.jpg

We also have a water-walking miracle:

vq07-AD1800-funny.jpg

Freddie decided gave us a laugh:

And I returned him the favour:

I have set the next player up for declaring on Freddie, but be careful there, contrary to what people think, freddie is not a walk-over. He is running around with rifleman, which will kill the Cossacks.
