Ok, so war horns sounded twice during my turnset and only one of them was initiated by me.
Starting up my turns, and Tokugowa is falling down like a ..... thing that falls down easily.
It cost me one cannon each. I kept Osaka and raized Nagoya. The only problem was I had to hurry since in that same turn Hatty decides to jump all over Tokugowa and right away raizes Cologne (saving me the trouble). The race was on for Edo!
(along the way, I start the SoL and Leo kicks in some hammers to help out)
Hatty won the race and raized Edo to the ground. I built a settler and in my last turn founded New Edo on the ruins of the previous city
Rifling came in and I kicked research into Steam Power (will finish next turn).
Napoleon is making funny noises in the corner so I ask him to spare his 310g.... and he does!!! (it wasn't a demand) Hmmm. With Tokugowa wiped out (but not by us dagnabit) someone else will be up. I decide to take a short tour through the french lands. Two turns later the following happens:
With no loses I might add! It was all cossaks all the time. Cannons never had a chance to catch up. Oh I did return munich back to Freddie - it extended his borders for faster passage. Raized all the rest.
Napoleon is down to three cities. Here's the fun coming up for the next player:
BTW, I just wanted to point out that even the "fine" citizens of Nara know they don't belong:
Too bad I removed the french influence (and yes I actually considered leaving Marseilles just to get Nara to flip so I could raize it later!)
Hatty has rifling (but still no democracy). Oh and this funny looking statue showed up in Beijing:
Beijing is working on Westpoint and the Forbidden Palace is going up in... the city southeast of Nara.
Here's Napoleon's last holdout:
It will be hard for us to reach having only caravels, so we might consider asking Hatty (who has galleons) to do our dirty work for us. Napoleon's other city has a bit of defense... but its land based next to Paris and will be chump change for our forces.
We can take Freddie out easily next, Hatty will be a bit tougher, but we've got two large armies on her borders one at New Edo and one that you can see outside of Paris. They can both go either way (german or egyptian). I'll leave that up to the next player and the group.
Oh on a snakey note... Our French snake head has been chopped since I returned it (munich) to German control. I'm fairly certain that New Edo is totally out of variant rules, but as the variant creator.... I'll let it pass since... umm... Hatty didn't get the memo that we intended to keep it and by raizing it incurred the... snake override loophole. Or something like that!
Here's the save
