Bah, we'll just increase the speed of light then.

(Serious: I don't believe this yet, but it'll be interesting what their future investigations show).

That doesn't seem likely to me. I would think that there are lots of equations and observations that already define what C is. But I'm positive that there will be "loopholes" for this constant as well :p

Yeah ... I was talking to God the other day and wondered if we could get to that planet that could sustain life we discovered that's about 38 light-years away ... He said "No worries, you'll get there, one day" ... Looks like he answered. :D

The researchers themselves are not announcing this as a discovery yet, pending confirmation from other scientists. So file this under: "Important if True".

It would be hilarious if the reason for this is actually God.

It's always been possible. It's just that scientists are too closed-minded to accept that without 'proof' :D

"If you can dream it, you can do it" (sadly probably not applicable to me ever hooking up with my sweet baby Samantha Fox...)

That was a Futurama joke :D

Someone post that comic of how the press interprets statements by scientists.

The OP is off the hook by clever use of the word "may".

Cool if it is true.

This one?

Anyway, the results are presented here: http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=155620
Note that this is supposed to be tomorrow, so either somebody is already running a communication device with these neutrinos, or the press is spreading rumors again (although in this case they seem to be well founded).

I think it was this one:

Spoiler :

I hope to see it replicated.

From a skeptics point of view: How do they know it was the same neutrino beam? Seems an end to nuclear deterance also?

A major Israeli newspaper website headline:

"Experiment proves Einstein wrong"

So yeah.

In before "Why does CERN hate Jews??" ;)

Oh, you got me. :mischief:
It's my poor use of smilies that's to blame. Sometimes I miss one for my deadpan kind of humor :(
