We Only Have 8 Planets In Our Solar System Now (Pluto Removed)

Again, citing tradition to keep Pluto a planet is ridiculous. Pluto was only called a planet for 76 years. Before that, the sun and the moon were called planets, from the first definition of the word, for thousands. The definition was changed when it was seen that the sun and the moon are different from the planets. That is what happened; if you are really concerned about tradition, then the sun, the moon, and even Ceres, once called a planet, will have to be on your list as well.

It will still be a planet to me ;). I will point out that is my own opinons on this matter on this.
....
So for you it's a matter of faith?
I recognise that a lot from your posts. ;)

Pluto: :wavey:

I am not going to nit-pick about the Neptune-Plutonian oddball orbit, perhaps the teachers too did not want to nit-pick about the possitions of Neptune and Pluto.
Well, Pluto really doesn't have an oddball orbit for a KBO, it's actually quite normal for a KBO, which is why it should be classified with all the other KBOs

True, but I am still reconising Pluto as the 9th/8th major planet regardless what the IAU says. Even if they pass the vote, I will still reconise Pluto as a planet. Realy, the IAU has better things to do than to pick on Pluto. Just leave the planet alone for goodness sakes.
It's not "picking on" Pluto. Astronomers (those fine folks who make up the IAU) all really wuv Pluto, they just have come to realize that it doesn't act like a Planet and instead acts like a field object (in this case a KBO). There's no shame in being a field object, it's just a different class of bodies! I mean Ceres was dropped from planethood and lot's of people still love it, heck they're working on sending a probe there! I still maintain that Pluto is totally hardcore, he just belongs with a new breed of badasses.

I see any naturaly made object in space that is larger than Pluto is a planet.
What about ones just a little bit smaller? See, with this kind of thinking you get yourself into a jam, if Pluto gets in all large KBOs should get in, and there is a whole lot (~50 so far) of large KBOs. I mean why should Pluto get special treatment?

Dang, dont harp on me just because I am sharing my own opinions on this issue. Its not like I am king or something making a decision on this sort of stuff. Am I not allowed to voice my opinions? Since that is basicly what I am doing is simply sharing my opinion, not deciding for the whole word.
Relax man, we're just having a friendly OT discussion! Have a beer!

Hey, don't wave goodbye! Pluto is gonna keep on orbiting Merrily around the Sun to the beat of Neptune! We're still going to have New Horizons meet up with the fella and see what he has to offer (and that's going to be totally awesome). Pluto is just classified with all his KBO friends instead of a place where he really doesn't belong!

No this is total bullcrap !

They should've had a global vote. I bet then Pluto would still be around.

Why bullcrap? The existance of many KBOs makes such a redefinition a neccesity

Only out of ignorance! What percentage of the world's population knows what the greasy poop a KBO is?

Agreed... I mean, you only need to examine the White House to know what voting on something can do :)
