Over the holidays I read:
-Das Boot-Gunther Lothar-Bucheim
-Red storm Rising-Tom Clancy
-Tony Benn's Memoirs
-A Painted House-John Grisham
-Dirstubed Minds by someone
-A john sandford book.

@nonconformist: are the Grisham novels worth reading? I see you read one (A Painted House). I just started The Broker (50+ pages), it's OK so far. Random choice really...

Dune.

I churned through a mass of books on holiday...

And it took me 2 whole weeks to find a decent bookshop!

Then of course, I found two, and just had to buy 9 books to stock up with :).

The one I read was alright, and it reminded me of "To Kill A Mockiingbird" to a certain extent.

I forgot to mention I also read Hemingway's A Farewell To Arms.

My mother gave me a new book today. From Babel to Dragomans - Interpreting the Middle East. By Bernard Lewis. I'm going to be reading it for the first time tonight.

I'm attempting to slug through the Ender Quartet - finished Speaker for the Dead, but can't stand Xenocide. I finished up the Shadow Quartet by reading Shadow of the Giant.

I just finished reading Ryan Hobb's Farseer Trilogy (Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, Assassin's Quest)

3 of the best books I have read in a long time! :)

Out, by Natsuo Kirino.

I don't care much for writing style so although its translated it doesn't really bother me that it doesn't read as well as a book in its mother tongue, but its a gripping read - good story!

Currently a magazine from the After the Battle series on Dieppe and Eben Emael

"The Jericho Sanction" by Oliver North and Joe Musser.

Second in a series of spy/military thrillers, this is the sequel to "Mission Compromised" by the same authors. The story is set in the Middle East during the 1990's. Very similar to Tom Clancy novels, this novel covers a 'what if' scenario where Iraq obtains three nuclear weapons through the Ukrainian black market and then proceeds to lose them. A race ensues to recover these weapons before the Iraqi government can find and use them.

I haven't reviewed books before and since I'm still in the middle of this one, my review doesn't do the book justice. ;) Amazon.com has some good writeups though if any of you military/spy buffs are interested.

"Guns, Germs, and Steel"

I'm anticipating getting to "A Brief History of Time" and "The Prince" next.
