It is every European country's sacred duty to guard against the Asian and African hordes.

There is an odd accent on a small island in the Chesapeake Bay called Tangier, which is a watermen's isolated from the main land. Linguists have studied the strange accent there, and concluded that it is the closest-sounding dialect to Elizabethan English still spoken today.

Also, seeing the scenery in this video makes me very homesick. :(

very powerful new zealand anti speeding ad.
According to the speedometer, he was going 63 mph. I don't know about NZ, but the speed limit on similar rural roads in the US is typically 50 or 55. Even if he was going 45, he would have still hit the other car. Notice how close he is to the other vehicle when the other car pulls out and he even has time to react by braking.

The video is also very disingenuous because the vehicle isn't doing 63 mph. It is traveling at more like 45 mph.

I don't think there is such a thing as a safe speed for the way many people drive. That is unless everybody is willing to do 15 mph or less. And even then, you are going to still have some collisions. Just look at how many people can't see motorcycles no matter how defensively they are driven.

But there is a valuable moral to this story. Always be alert and always wear your seat belt. it won't save you from every person who doesn't see a red light or who pulls out when he shouldn't. But it will certainly improve your odds of living.

I would have Colin Mochrie's children

This kind of thing always reminds me of what my grandfather apparently used to do. He refused to wear a seatbelt because he argued that if you got in an accident, you would be better off because you'd be thrown far away from it

How far we've come

I was thinking how odd that religion wasn't mentioned even once. Then Hulk sneaked it in in the very last second...

I love how there is a short debate about alerts and how it ends with yellow alert. There is not even a yellow alert in DS9 or VOY. It is just straight red alert (without any kind of debate ever) or nothing later on. Goes to show the development of plot devices.
At this point any kind of sign of aggression is taken really seriously, the whole engagement is explored in its nuanced angles, whereas later on in the Star Trek franchise it is just "WHOOPS! ENEMY! RED ALERT".
I think there is a word for this.
Dumped down.

But who's the guy in blue?

Isn't Capt Picard just a little bit curious?
