Meteor Man
Cylindropuntia imbricata

EDIT: I must say that after reading the complete review, I feel strangely better. That review just made my day!

How so?!Goodness! That still seems to be my most well known one... although if I were writing it today I think it would be very different.
Patrick O'Brian's Master and Commander, the first book in the Aubrey-Maturin series. Twenty incredible books, perhaps the best historical fiction ever written.
Within the first 10 pages, I was already laughing with pleasure. Starting this series again is like coming home to visit your oldest friends.

The last book I read was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and awesome book and I highy recommend you guys give it a try.
Good books. I'll take another look at them.![]()
Absolutely do so! They're incredibly immersive - richly detailed, great escapist fiction.
I was thinking of starting a separate A&E thread to discuss the whole series - I'd love to hear from others, especially those more versed in the history of the French Revolution, the Napoleonic War, and the War of 1812 - but I'd probably be the only person posting. For some reason, it seems these books remain relatively unknown, though I could be wrong.
You can probably count on privatehudson to be well versed in the naval history - if he's around. I'm mostly a landlubber during that period and can't really discuss the books (heard about them, heard about the movie, never read 'em) :3I was thinking of starting a separate A&E thread to discuss the whole series - I'd love to hear from others, especially those more versed in the history of the French Revolution, the Napoleonic War, and the War of 1812 - but I'd probably be the only person posting.
