When you're watching a movie or a sporting game or something, there's usually a commercial break in between. Do you just sit and watch it and let the marketing managers and the free market toy with your mind, or do you take the oppertunity to get some food or go to the bathroom?

I usually just go to the bathroom, and if there's time left I get something to eat. If I don't have to do either of those, I go watch a bit of another channel untill the break's over.

I'll try and make a poll.

I'm usually only paying half-attention to the tv anyway, so I'll just shift the leftover attention to my other task.

Even if I'm paying full attention to the tv, I've almost always got something else I'm doing at hand. Some kind of craft, or a paused computer game, or writing something, or something else.

On the rare occasion that I don't have anything else to do, I'll either channel-surf, talk spit about the commercials with someone else in the room, or take advantage of the opportunity to escape from the television.

Sometimes I'll watch the commercial, although more often these days I'll mute it. If I have to go to the bathroom, I'll do that; if I'm hungry, I'll eat; if I'm thirsty, I'll drink. If none of those apply, I'll probably change the channel.

This is useful if I'm watching two shows at once.

Often I'll be on CFC during commercial breaks, too.

What she said.

What they said. And also look up ways to seize power in a coup d'etat.

The thing does get to me, though, is something my father does. Commercial time, he changes the channels. They usually have commercials at the same time, also. So he surfs until something is on, by which point he watches a few minutes, then remembers what he was originally watching, switches back to that, then it's about time for another commercial break.

switches channels, mostly end up with state channels unless they didnt manage to sync right, or surf on the net in between

Eat, drink, CFC/Myspace, pee, or sometimes I actually watch the commercial:eek:

If I'm watching sports it's usually the Premiership and I usually have it recorded on my PVR, so I can skip the commercials.

If it's a movie, then it's likely a DVD, as most stations will chop movies up to remove profanities, etc. usually butchering the movie.

If it's a TV show then it's likely on my computer and/or burned from my computer.

I never channelsurf so I almost never see commercials.

I pay attention to the TV half the time. So most of the time I have the laptop with me on the couch.

Same on every count, I'm not big on wasting my time by watching advertisements.

I voted as the majority has

I fast forward through commercials, because I record everything on the DVR.
Does that mean I should vote "Observe radioactive monkeys"? Nothing else fits.

Commercials? Don't understand, TiVo eliminates any need for finding something else to do.
