What does a MAGA hat stand for?

Which is why his trade policy (ill advised as it is) isnt just aimed at "brown" countries. Hes tossed tariffs at Canada, Australia, and Europe. Dismissing that sentiment as just racism without redirecting it in a more appropriate direction is not a good idea. Not everyone that voted for him thought Mexicans were coming to take their jobs. Many of them worried that their jobs were going to go to Mexico.
Rust Belt jobs are as likely to move to Southern states with poor labour protections as they are to Mexico, but nobody built a right-wing populist platform around that.

The idea that jobs belong to "America", distinct from any specific community of Americans, is itself a deeply ideological statement.

Moderator Action: I have deleted a number of argumentative posts in case you were wondering. As I have mentioned before, I am sick and tired of repeating myself and if you are going to name posters with the express purpose of starting an argument or re-hashing an old one, then you are going to get a thread ban. Think of it as a little bit of time off to reflect on your troubles. The more you do it, the longer the thread ban becomes. Do I make myself clear?

The MAGA hat stands for: white people are not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people who have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us.

I moreso gave @Manfred Belheim a few non-committal statements in hopes he wouldn't harp on that issue forever, and to push the thread forward, not really to agree with his claim about you "misreading," per se.

Not denying that I'm happy to "harp on forever" from time to time, but in this particular case... WTH are you on about? I made one post. Well two, but the second got deleted and it was only a brief reply to you anyway and it seemed to end there quite definitely. And you didn't give me a few non-committal statements, you gave me one big diatribe criticising a bunch of other people quite directly. No idea what you're talking about here.

I'm not in a great mood these days because the provincial government has just pulled the financial rug out from under the disabled population AGAIN, won't say why, and the Minister of Social Services isn't talking, replying to questions even from the media, never mind the people this actually is going to affect, and it means that I have to tell my landlord that I'll be walking a tightrope for rent a month from now because I don't know if the disability payments will arrive before or after the automated rent payment is taken. Payments were a few days before the end of the month, giving plenty of time to pay rent, utility bills, etc. Now they're going to be on the same day as the rent is due.

Tens of thousands will be in this situation, We're told, "If you have a problem, call your case manager."

Hello, it's hard to get hold of them now. I haven't bothered calling mine because I know it would be at least a week before getting a callback.

How does this relate to bigotry? Easy. The government we have now is run by one of the people who, in Harper's last term, saw nothing wrong with trying to disenfranchise my demographic and several others, making it harder for us to vote. Now they've canceled the indexing of disability benefits, and starting next month, some people will be in arrears for rent and utilities, all before they get their monthly benefit after these payments are due.

And those are just the people who have direct deposit. The ones who get cheques in the mail will be in worse situations.

Somehow, this is supposed to "Make Alberta Great Again."
I talked to the manager today and he said not to worry, I'm not the only person in the building in this situation, and that rent payments wouldn't be taken out until the end of the day. If things don't work out, there are a couple of other possible solutions. So now I just need to call the telecom and see if there's any way to make an adjustment there, time-wise.
