food-wise, I mean.

Not stuff you just haven't had and might eat if there were an opportunity or reason to, but stuff you just can't stomach. Either you had a bad experience with it, or you can't stand the taste, or you have a moral objection to it, or whatever.

[please-don't-lame-the-thread caveats]

Right, nobody drinks motor oil, no need to clarify your position on drinking yak blood. (Unless you know something obscure about yak blood...)

If you think all food is gross or evil or whatever then just don't post 'cause it's not gonna make you sound cool and edgy, it's gonna make you sound like a person who is completely nuts.

[/please-don't-lame-the-thread caveats]

I'll post mine later! So what are some foods that a good chunk of people like, that you just can't stand?

I refuse to eat goat cheese. Not even on pizza. And when something isn't good on pizza, it's not going to be good anywhere else.

imitation vegan/diet junk. If I can't eat something, I'll just not eat it rather than force down lame substitutes.

I can't stand pickles. I've just never liked them. I have a friend who just eats dill pickles by themselves, and it creeps me out. I don't like mustard - I'll tolerate a little bit on a burger, if there's lots of other stuff on it too, but in general its just too strong for me. And since I found out that the filling of oreos is just Crisco and sugar, I haven't been able to eat them anymore. :( (Thanks, whoever it was, that ruined them for me....) Also, I've never liked mushrooms, olives, or skim milk. Just all gross, to me. (Olive oil is OK, just not black olives themselves, as food)

I can't eat gobs of mayonnaise...if what Pulp Fiction said is true, I could never live in Europe :p

I've also built an instinctual aversion to potato salad and coleslaw *shivers*

Also BBQ Sauce except in small quantities on properly BBQed stuff.

So no BBQ chips, no BBQ sauce on burgers, pork sammiches, sloppy joes, etc.

-There are loads of different kinds of pickles, bread & butter or garlic are awesome for sandwiches.
-Cheapo hotdog/fastfood mustard is horribly weak compared to real mustard.
-Same for oreos, I never was a big fan, I don't really like icing on cake either, I can't stomach the thought of eating pure sugar with some coloring added.
-Skim milk is disgusting, homo milk ftw. I was at the store the other day and saw some "5% ULTRA CHOCOLATE MILK"... I got super excited, but then I got closer, and saw that it was actually .5%. :(
-Olives themselves are pretty bad, but olive oil is essential for cooking, and a lot of dishes taste weird if they're cooked without olives.

Myself, I have very few good foods I stay away from, most really cheap value food sucks, predictably. (kraft dinner, value pasta, value rice, value microwavable dinners, value ketchup, value mustard, etc.)

I used to not like any seafood, but lately, I've gotten to try more well prepared seafood. Chowder I still hate, along with anything with the "fishy" taste, but salmon, muscles, baby clams, etc. can all be good.

Vegemite is also pretty bad.

Artificial sugars; fake, powdered cream for coffee; wonder bread and its ilk; raw meat; liver, tongue, brains and kidneys.

I've only ever had one kind of goat cheese, and I love it! But I don't get to have it very often because it's waaay too expensive.

It's cheddar cheese I don't eat very often. It's a headache-inducer for me.

I like pickles in small doses. Dill pickles, pickled herring, and dill pickle-flavored potato chips are all good. :) So are mushrooms, as long as they're fried. Mushroom soup is disgusting.

Blueberries
Black Licorice
Tropical Fruit in Minnesota (because it invariably sucks donkey balls)
Considering that Minnesota is not located in the tropics, I would guess that good tropical fruit probably can't be grown there. :crazyeye:

I put BBQ sauce on fish & chips when I'm out of ketchup and plum sauce.

As for food I won't eat: Asparagus. I'm willing to concede it is probably nutritious, but it tastes horrible and smells even worse. I won't even eat food that's been on the same plate as asparagus, because the smell and taste seem to be absorbed by everything in its vicinity. The people who put this vile substance on pizza(!) must be insane.

I can't have citrus fruit because of allergies. So even though I really would love to indulge in something like lemon merengue pie, I can't. And it's been so many years since I've been able to have Christmas oranges... :(

Ever since I had the flu and ate shrimp I haven't been able to stomach them. Similar case with gumbo and jambalaya.
Apparently New Orleans doesn't want me visiting.

I think there was a recent thread on this.

Anyway, don't eat anything with sugar, hydrogenated oil, non-free-range meat, wheat, cow's dairy and nothing grilled, microwaved or cooked in most kinds of oil. That probably covers most of it.

If you want real BBQ and not the offensive red stuff served in most of the US, try it when you go to Eastern NC. Nothing compares or even comes close.

I generally try to avoid too spicy foods. First burns my tongue for a long time after and second it burns my stomach for a long time after.
